Do you really believe what you wrote?? See my post about loop detectors. In my industry they are already set to read RFID with in ground loop detectors to open industrial electric gates. This is old hat.
Check around google and you'll see what I mean. For the city/state/big bro to read the RFID in a car, not just the tires, is oh so simple and oh so cheap and oh so in place....
Do you know what a "loop detector" is?? Ever notice those loops cut in the concrete and tarred in??
There is a wire loop in the concrete at millions of intersections all over the world right now. They detect changes in the magnetic field when cars pass over them. That's how they count traffic and know when cars are sitting at lights.
If there are no cars over the loop the OTHER lights stay green much longer, usually until a car drives up to the red light and passes over the loop. The change in the magnetic field triggers the circuits to cycle the traffic lights.
I install these things for industrial electric gate openers, same exact electronics. It will be EXTREMELY EASY to read the RFID tags in tires with these loop detectors just by adding some very cheap equipment into the existing system, which by the way, happens to already be networked into a central traffic control computer....
Like the ads on the buildings in Bladerunner?? I mean why not? They hammer us everywhere else now, they even spam our cell phones and beepers with crappy ads for crappy products. Might as well get the buildings going too!
I think the project they had was cool. It was a fun thing and it had major geek factor. But I think it was a prototype for things to come..
But you choose to fall on your own sword. Just for the simple fact that you people would even consider such actions, rest assured, myself and many others will do everything in our power to drive customers AWAY from SCO products.
The end is near, you've chosen suicide. Some people go out with a big bang, some go quietly. Either way, they end up the losers in the game..

"Despite the hype that the Internet evolved from the Arpanet the reality is that Bill Gates invented the modern day Internet in 1995 when he launched Win 95" [nytimes.com]
Bullshit. Win 95 did NOT come with Internet support at first, you had to buy the PLUS CDrom seperatly to get TCP/IP and other Internet functions and connectivity features. Win95-B was distributed with TCP/IP built in..
Windows is the single greatest threat to personal privacy, national security and personal freedom in all of recorded history.
It is the SINGLE goal of the United States Government to oppress personal freedoms and rights in every concievable manner possible. Windows makes this dream come true.
In short time, the thought police will be arresting Linux users because they harbor hateful thoughts towards M$ and His Majesty, Bill Gate$..
M$ is working hand in hand with the USG to develop a system that will give the USG and BIG Corporations the means to spy on and pry into every aspect, every thought, every action of every living being on earth.
It will be, just like in 1984, illegal to turn your TV (or PC) off.
These hearings are crap. They don't give a damn what ANYONE has to say because they have an agenda and it is to squash the freedom that we have now.
They will do it under the guise of "national security" but that's just a password for government oppression.
Our freedoms are only a pen stroke away from a swift death...
keep your/etc/hosts file up to date and set your browser to "ask" on javascript. When you find sites that annoy you with pop-ups just disable it for THAT site.. No big deal.
I use Konqueror and I can customize it's behaviour for individual sites. I don't have pop-ups OR ads showing up on my box.
And, I just can't say enough good things about having a dedicated Linux firewall. I use floppyfw and love it..
I had the extreme displeasure of running IE on a Win2k box the other day and I almost beat the sh*t out of it with a baseball bat because of the freaking pop-ups.. What a miserable experiance. No wonder people have mental problems, dealing with all the spam, viruses, pop-ups, etc...
I just can't find anything good to say about Windows, IE or OE... Not a thing..
I stand by my assertion, Windows (name you version) is trash.
What scares me to death is that while watching the news they were showing off a brand new "state of the art" command center from where they plan to wage war against Iraq.
In this tented command center they showed many dozens of computers with soldiers sitting at them. Every single one of them was running Winbloz..
The security of this country and the free world is resting in the hands of the most irreparably broken OS on the planet??
Windows itself is a virus and trojan, all rolled into one huge, hoggish, ill behaved package.

I tried to order my new car (back in 84) with an AM only radio. I did not want or need an FM radio or tape player. I wanted an AM ONLY radio.
I was told there was no such thing any more and that I would have to pay for the AM/FM radio.
I told them to pull the radio from the dash and sell me the car with a hole in the dash where the radio was. I stood my ground and did not give. I told them I would walk out if they didn't play my game.
They pulled the radio and sold me the car with a hole in the dash, and they knocked $600 of the sticker.
Car dealer or computer dealer, they work on comission and they NEED your money. Just be a hard ass with them, if they won't work with you, walk out. There is always someone else that WILL play your way....
One last thing, think about this, do you EVER pay sticker price on big ticket items or do you talk them down?? If you pay full sticker price you are a fool. If you pay for winbloz when you buy a new machine you are not too bright...

My just neighbor bought his first computer. It was a Linux bundle from Fry's. P4 1.8, very decent system for very decent price, it was like $299 w/o monitor. Came with ThizLinux (which I promptly replaced with MDK 9.0)
Problem is that it came with a low end SIS video card which works OK for winblows but is BARELY functional under Linux. SIS says YOYO with Linux. I had the same video card on my box that I built from scratch. I bought the card unaware that SIS won't support it on Linux, then replaced it with a used TNT2 that works fine.
Bottom line, I see a trend towards stores selling junk that works for winbloz but is barely usable or not usable under Linux.
Be careful before buying stuff, do your homework first before buying hardware.
Black vans will be prowling around "sniffing" for wireless lans. When they prowl through your neighborhood and detect that you have 802.11 running they will send a SWAT team to kick your door in, shoot your dog and rip your house apart in the name of National Security because you are aiding and abetting "Abdul" down street.
Remember when they declared PGP to be a munition and banned it's export??
What do you think will happen when you begin to send PGP encrypted email to/from your friends? Why would ANYONE want to hide anything??
When you hide something there must be a reason for it. Why make your conversations private? We can't have that now can we? Only terrorists would want to speak to one another in secret.
Privacy will become illegal in the near future, when nothing is hidden then there can be no terrorism, right?? And when someone tries to speak privately then those persons are plotting something and must be arrested for interregation.
They tried to push the clipper chip on us and nobody went for it. Now, we are staring down the barrel of Palladium and Longhorn and it's only a very short time before all privacy is lost and thus all freedoms are restricted.
I remember a movie in the 60's about all the knowledge of the world being stored in a single computer in Brussels. Everyone that needed to know anything got it from the one computer.
Some guy went to a terminal to research something in the past and discovered that huge chunks of history were disappearing from the computer.
Each time he went back more and more time periods had vanished. I think it was some sort of Illuminati Conspriracy..
I can't remember the exact plot or name of the movie as I haven't seen it in over 20-25 years. Maybe someone else remembers it..
Point is, this is coming. Paper does NOT last forever, as most of us know and there has been this gung-ho push to digitize everything in existence.
All it takes is one person with a mission in mind to change the course of history, past, present and future when all that there is has been reduced to 1's and 0's..
