But we're talking about severed heads being preserved here. No heart, lungs, pancreas, liver, kidneys, etc...

What's to harvest? Teeth? Tongues? Sinuses? Brains? No, I think the parent had it right; the future won't want us - they'll have no need for what we have to offer - except maybe the occasional research project.

And... just imagine waking up as a dis-embodied head in a bucket. No thanks!

Heh - there was a guy here at work that did a similar thing. Bonehead had some slack time on his hands so he decided to clean his computer. Got it nice and shiny - almost like new. But left it on while cleaning. Deleted all kinds of important data during the keyboard-scrubbing phase.

Needless to say, he no longer works here. Still makes me chuckle when I think about it.

I would say this is why they chose this configuration. Not necessarily because it's *the best*, (although it might be), but because it emulates the human hand. And why not? It's familiar to the users.

While I agree with most of your post, I have to remind you that US political elections are really nothing more than the powers-that-be, (Big Business(TM)), putting a donkey puppet on the left hand and an elephant puppet on the right hand and having a little 'vote for me - No! vote for me' show.

Other than the republican bashing, (which I'm usually in favor of), I agree with your post 100%.

Well... I'm not a smoker but I wouldn't want a 'non-smoking' car. I'm pretty glad my vehicle has a cigarette lighter. It sure comes in handy for plugging in mobile phone adapters, portable air pumps, etc...

Given a choice between using a cigarette adapter and having to crank this gizmo by hand a few hundred times; I'd rather put my arm to use tipping a pint of Guinness, thank you very much ;-]

  10. US Laws? on How Italian Police Shut Down U.S. Web Servers · · Score: 1

    From the article...

Blue Gravity's chief executive, Tom Krwawecz, said the company was never informed. And he believes U.S. laws -- not Italy's -- ought to apply.

Why? The 'perpetrators' were in Italy and were busted by the Italian polizia. Seems to me they (the perps) used off-shore hosting as an attempt to dodge local laws. Is Blue Gravity claiming ownership of the contents of the web-site? I sure hope not. Now there's a precedent we don't want to see anytime soon.

I may not agree with the laws of other countries but until we have one set of rules for all people, we have to let others govern themselves according to their own laws. Otherwise, we'll most likely end up fomenting even more terrorist groups.
