1. Don't listen to other people too much. Listen for advice and make your own decisions. Most people will tell you "x can't work". Otherwise they would have to get up and try it themselves.
2. Do your homework. I guess this is what you are doing now, so up and at em.
3. Find a niche and stick to it. Small companies must focus.
4. Don't hang onto a failed idea. Learn what there is to learn and get onto the next idea, don't dwell.
Kimberlite (the rock you find diamonds in) is plentiful, as are diamonds. More importantly, gemstone diamonds are very common as well. And yes, the price is artifically high. The world is not "running out" of diamonds like its running out of, say, oil.

I believe that you should work with a network that exposes you to lots of users (shameless plug: www.clickshare.com)
This sort of network allows you to to tap into a pre-existing network of users, and to sell songs on line one (or more) at a time.
