Which is the whole reason for calling it the "War on Terrorism" or the "War on Drugs". It basically gives them the power to do whatever they want, as they can claim that they are in a state of war. The US needs some serious political change. I hope that they elect in somebody competent in November. Although I'm not sure who's running who would actually qualify. Hopefully whoever gets voted in, will be willing the stop the insanity that is, "The War on Terrorism".

I never use history. I actually disable it because I never look in there, among other reasons. I think the major problem is that there's just too much stuff in there, and it's too hard to really find, since you can only search by page title and URL, and often times you don't even know what you're looking for. I think history should have a much more hierarchical view. It shows you a tree of how you ended up at a page. So, you search google for Foo, and then from there opened up pages A, B, and C. Those should all be child nodes of the original google search. That way, when you look in your history, you only see the starting points, and you can recall your navigation path in order to find the page.

I don't think it's about density or sheer numbers. It's about how much other data you have about the data you're looking at. In this case, they augmented the netflix data with data from IMDB. By having more data about the movies that were being rated, such as actors, producers, directors, year of filming, and other information, they were better able to recommend movies. If the only thing you know about a movie is who voted for it, but not why, then you are going to have a hard time recommending movies to others.

Unless you're a graphic designer, I can't really see this mattering much. Also, to the graphic designers out there, try to put yourself in the seat of your target audience. Don't assume that the people viewing your web page have the same quality of monitor as you do. Just because two colours show lots of contrast, and look different on your monitor, doesn't mean they will look different on cheaper ones.

The thing is, is that the RIAA is just about business. And therefore all they are interested in is making money. They've found the best way to make money is to produce the minimum amount of music that will result in the maximum amount of sales. That's how they maximize their profits. The best way to do that is to promote a small number of artists that most people will buy, because they don't find it terrible.

The best thing about photo editing is that we don't have to worry about proprietary formats (as much) as we do with document editing.
