No, you're experiencing a force of 1g from gravity, Luckily, the ground is also exerting an equal force, which means that you aren't acceleration at all, because the net force is 0. Unless you are typing that post free fall, you aren't actually accelerating.
Why do airplanes require so much security while trains do not? I never really understood this. I can see for some extra security for planes, since when you hijack them, you can go where ever you want, as long as you have enough fuel. But I still don't see why they take so many precautions with air travel, and so few with trains.
5000 mph is 8046 km/h. Escape velocity is 11.2 km/s. This train would travel at 2.2 km/s. So, it wouldn't quite be able to launch itself into space, but if you put some rocket boosters on it to continue with this speed, then you could probably find a really cheap way to launch stuff into space. Point this tunnel towards the sky, and you would get pretty high up. Also, it would take less speed to get into orbit, as opposed to actually escaping the earth's gravity.
I'm just wondering about the acceleration of such a device. How long would it take to reach top speed? Accelerating at 1G, it would take 228 seconds (just over 3.5 minutes) to reach this speed. That would probably be a little uncomfortable for the riders though. It would probably be a lot better to take 10 minutes or more for full acceleration.
I took their test. Wow, looks like I need to see my doctorB. They are just looking to get people on medication they don't need, just look at some of the questions. I stress for success? I like to feel special? I don't like feeling like a wallflower? Life seems better when I have more than others? Really I think about everybody in the world has this condition.
Watching an advertisement for Nike (for instance) on television only make watching television cheaper, it doesn't make buying shoes any cheaper, it actually increases the cost of the shoes. So here's the real question. Would you rather have cheaper TV/Internet/Magazines, or would you rather have cheaper "everything else"?
Is it really just a matter of recompiling it? If so, then why aren't there more distros that support PowerPC. If all you have to do is run it through a different compiler, then just about every distro should run on powerPC. Instead, there's only a small percentage of distros that run on PowerPC.
If you can't put an x in exactly one box, then your vote doesn't get counted. Call it an intelligence test for votes. If there are multiple issues being voted on, then each issue should be counted separately, so if you check 2 boxes on 1 issue, they still count the votes for all the other issues you didn't screw up.
Show me a stationwagon with 2 rows of seats in the back, and room for extra luggage, and I'll agree with you that people should be buying those rather than minivans.
The "Ten Times" the number of voters is offset by the fact that you have 10 times as many people to count the votes. If India can get by on paper votes, then I'm sure the US can handle it. The major problem is that there's too many issues on the ballot. What's the point of putting someone in office if you can't delegate some of the decisions to them? I like the Canadian system. You vote for your municipal, Provincial, and Federal representatives, and they cast their ballot on all the other little issues you don't have the time to deal with.
I often wonder sometimes if the game developers even bother to play the games they program without cheating. If they ever would have tried this game, they would have known it was too hard to play, and made it easier. I don't understand how they expect you to beat some games. The only way I ever beat Bionic Commando was to spend 20 minutes on the first level collecting all the bullets. After that the game was easy. If you didn't spend that time getting all the extra bullets, then the game was impossible.
The online part is that this is slashdot, and you're reading about your right while online. At least that's always the way I've interpreted it since it seems that about 50% of the stories have nothing to do with our rights on the internet.
I owned that game and never ended up beating it. I couldn't get past the level with the buildings. I think it was the fourth level. I don't know how anybody beat that game. Maybe I'll try playing it on the emulator and saving state every 2 minutes just to see the ending.
Ok, I get your point, but camping is supposed to be about doing things you can't do inside. Like fishing, hiking, swimming, cycling, playing catch, and lots of other activities. If you're just going to sit on you ass and watch TV, then you might as well stay at home.
The problem with that, is that the numbers coming out of the black box are considered official, and recounts are hard to get done, especially complete recounts. And paper trails sometimes get thrown out. I'd rather just keep it all pen and paper like it currently is in Canada. No complex machinery to get messed with, and if you're worried about your votes not getting counted properly, well there's people watching the actual counting from all involved parties to make sure nothing is getting miscounted.

If you look at languages like C then having an array start at 0 makes sense, because the array index is the offset from the beginning of the array. However, if you don't have pointers, it's really unintuitive to have arrays starting at 0.
. In Queensland an Aboriginal man was killed while in police custody. It was latter shown that he shouldn't have even been arrested, and that he was beaten to death.
That doesn't surprise me considering that Aboriginals where considered part of the "flora and fauna" until 1967.
You should have switched over to your SD TV set also. You see, HDTVs have 1 really good set resolution, and looking at them in anything but the native resolution looks really terrible. So if you have a 1280x1024 monitor, and change the resolution to 1152x864, then you'll notice the picture looks a lot worse, even though the resolution is still pretty high.
While I realize you're trying to be funny, but you do illustrate the point well. How is a site consisting only of user created content supposed to adhere to content laws? How are they supposed to control the amount of Canadian content?
Who's to say it isn't television? Or Radio? Just because the transport is different doesn't mean that it's not television. I'll give you that's it's not Canadian, but neither is Fox,NBC,ABC or CBS. Yet if they're playing the same show as a Canadian broadcaster then then Canadian show (with canadian commercials) gets shown instead.
I saw this movie over the weekend. It wasn't even that good. It might be the best thing available on HDDVD, but I wouldn't rush out and buy it. Personally I think they did a really bad job on a story with really good potential.
You don't get twice the quality, you get twice the bits. Is CD quality 10 times the quality? Most of the quality in music has to do with the people performing the music, not how many bits are used to encode it. The difference to my ears are minimal for these two bitrates, especially when listening on an iPod. $.99 is way too much for a digital file. CDs cost more because of the distribution chain and physical materials, but downloaded music should cost nowhere near that amount. I use eMusic, which ends up being around $0.30 a track. They don't have everything though, so for what they don't have, I get the CD. I'd gladly pay the extra $1-$2 for the CD over what iTunes charges.
First, it's stupid to make it cost more. Second, I tried PureTracks for a while, and having DRM content mixed with non-drm content is a real pain if you are only looking for non-drm content. Finding the non-drm content can be a real pain. I've gone with eMusic for now for my download music needs. It's not the best, but I buy most of my music on CDs anyway.
Is 3D desktop support actually good this time? Although it my be because i'm running with an ATI video card, I found that the 3D desktop support was terrible in the original Mandriva 2007. Frequent crashes where a major problem. I don't really need a 3D desktop, so I turned it off, but it sure would be nice to have a 3D desktop that works.

I don't think it wasn windows 95. I remember getting a copy of windows 95 off of someone, and it was only around 13 disks.
