Sound Quality And Commercial Use

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. However i would have a few questions. First, what is the root device acting as the synthesizer. I believe that Atari was only capable of creating monophonic sounds from its own synthisizer. It is not possible to force and old synthesizer to create something it was not designed to do. Howver what i think that this guy did was create a synthesizer in a box, and used some good electronic engineering techniques to use the same electrical lines as the sound and control input/output, circumventing any microprocessing from the 2600 root board. Also i do question what type of sound quality the machine produces. If the lines inside the 2600 (soldered on a circuit board) are in good condition then he could transfer CD quality music through them. However impedance differences might create problems using noncommercial sound equipment. I applaud the man for creating a device that does indeed hack the Atari 2600, but maybe its not as cool as we thought
Yes, i have this problem, I am a computer nazi at my school and we have a standard NT and 98 system, (with linux boxes for the lab staff) and we have the problem with kids only playing games. The problem is that web games, although more stupid, are wasting the bandwidth that other people really need. To disable java is not the answer, and i really hate blocking sites, e.g. macromedia (although if any kid with half a brain can get to whatever site they want). What i would like to do is have a LAN party some day after school, as a school function, but i know the administration would not act favorably upon this. Also it would be difficutlt to keep kids from not playing the games during school hours. However, if there was a way to lock the programs up (without using Fortres or somethign stupid on thos 98 machines) that would be very neato, and then we could possibly have a cooelr student body and population. Although i dont think that many people (e.g. the district) really likes Quake 3 all that much.
Note: ill spoken, about minix compiled, it was his code that he used minix as a basis.

When you say linux, you are always infering the origional version.x which was minix compiled. Or maybe we are infering the date that linus put his message on the news group that started the revolution. Its crazy to think about what true development, or linux is. To me Debian/gnu linux was the birth of linux. Apt-get started my software revolution,:-)
Speaking of Code Red, mountain dew code red is a highly malicious blend of virus, cough syroupe, and caffeine. All are bad except caffeine. Just like this virus, all are bad on windows machines, except those which arent windows machines. I guess linux is like the caffeine of all soda. The good parts:-)
Maybe this will shed some validity onto nasa. i guess if they dont encode their tapes with ancient programming languages we might be able to read the data in 20 years. Also, i would love to cluster some old space ship parts.
Makes ya wonder what those programmers were thinking. Well lets see, my dad was born in the 50's and he is still alive. And the last time nasa used "fortran (or whatever language they were using)" he was still alive.
it seems so highly unlikely they couldnt figure it out, maybe we need a rosetta stone to determine what the heck these ancient gliphs might mean,???
Impressive, i need to hook up my dad with one of these. He uses a P166 and gets a lot done surprisingly, I wonder how much more with a few more megahertz will help. Not enough ram though to satisfy my needs. Also, what happends when we cluster this stuff. I see a market for a new search engine...
I am all for tite new boxes, but for stand alone purposes, i dont really understand the usefulness. My life is centered around a very large, very nice set for viewing movies/iron chef/ etc... but when it comes to media, i enjoy sitting and sipping a warm one (not beer)while editing the media im looking at. Wether its screen size or ego size, people find a need to custom format media to themselves, and little boxes is not the way its going to happen.
I use a computer quite often and have had no probles with carpal tunnel. Yes its been for many years. i think its as with anything, bad if it is overdone, but ergonometry is not the answer supprisingly. I believe it lies within the systems and application. While working, i find that i spend more time doing repetitious motions with trying to fix software (gAOL, MSFT). Now to my linux side, i barely use linux, and everything i do under windows, (except games) is done under linux as well. Did i say everything? No, not quite. I hate windows with a passion but i still use it for one reason, the software. I enjoy playing around with new toys, audio programs, niftly little toolz, and things, more than i actually enjoy getting work done. The overboard computer usage by a company is the problem. Can it be cut in half, yes. Do i suggest only linux, why not? If there is a program that exists on linux, or can be made for it, use it instead of the windows alternative. Sure, your employees will have less down time, and less time messing around if they set it up right. Having limits is what computer industry people have said "NO" to for a long time. Try using some limits when working on a machine, not duration. The root comes first, the benefits follow.
This may sound leftwing but parents today are afraid to talk to their kids. They are often afraid of devestating them, of hurting them, or of loving them too much. When it comes to the internet, parents have a lot of responsibility. Kids have ability to controll themselves, but not if they are easily tempted. The internet is a huge temptation. It will not work to have the computer in a family room, the kids will come down at night and look at porn then if they are determined to do so. In our current society there is no way to truely controll access to anything. If a kid wants to use the Internet for somthing "immoral" they are going to do it. The way to prevent them from hurting themselves, love them. Talking to kids about how you are going to monitor them. Even not monitering them works. Offering them to get off and do somthing useful works. Your example is the most important to the kids. When they see you using the internet for only buisness and useful things, and they see a lifestyle example they will follow it. Believe it or not, books like this suck.
This may seem redundant but wouldnt it be
a point of copywrite from an internet explorer or netscape perspective. the act is physically done with internet explorer, if you violated a javascript patent wouldnt that be an internet explorer or netscape problem. I see how violating content is wrong (e.g. cracking) but what i dont see is how somone can yell at you for manipulating with IE or NTSCP somthing you are given for free...
when i read this article i almost laughed,
I find a unusually strange flaw to most reasoning by the RIAA, however this one blows my mind. If there is a way to play it on our computer (like a regular CD) there is a way to copy, extract, and manipulate the files. Bits are Bits so are burners if they support cloning:-). I give 2 days before we have these suckers cracked, in whatever way they need to be.
Ok, i love motif and all, but it doesnt go along with open source, I understand the open group wants cash. I believe that open source is the way to go as far as development, It took me about 3 months to learn C and 2 of that was just finding a compiler, (i got linux, no fruit luvin windows compiler). Anyway, i would love to see motif become open source, so it could be increased in productivity and life as far as programming in unix/linux/other, would be much easier, i think that this is somewhat like the really old programmers that would not share their tips in progrmming for free, however its people like linus that got us out of that age.
Did anyone ever realize that Duron and Durok are relativly the same. Duron, rymes with moron Durok, Is russian for "Stupid" Actually, if we are considering the celeron 2 little 2 late then why is amd going to the low end market. I dont even like the celeron, and with AMD having a celeron competitor, its just not going to go over. I honestly believe that this was AMD's mistake, and that they are going to have a tough time with marketing...
Well i think it is great that ibm finally got us to the 75 gb level. However i wonder when hard drives will reach their maximum capacity. I start to wonder how reliable things will be. On the MP3 side of things, This device would be an excellent opportunity for raid systems and servers, just think scsi. I record my music at 128 kbps and it is...well mp3, but does anyone else record at a higher speed and get surprisingly better results?
Ok i might get flamed for this but it is what i think. See, i feel that the choice of linux solutions is gradualy increasing which isnt a good thing. It can be, when there is a technology or desktop manager or somthing that uses the kernel to the utmost fullest. But unless this investment is a really kick @$$ deal, i dont think it is worth it.
I honestly dont think AMD will do that well. See intel has a whole line of technology lined up and they have always done the best with their technology. Using the CISC way of doing things, amd has never had a processor, or equal clock speed, that outperformed intel. Also the sse componant in intel chips. However I also think that AMD's risk with their own motherboard was not a good dicision and that could also lead to less chips being bought, but, amd can turn themselves around a little.
I dont mind Aol and time warner merging, its just the implimentation of it all. If the products from micro-crap didn't suck so bad, I would not care if they had a monoply. However, they do and so does AOL's implementation. Every way I have seen Aol impliment content has been pitiful. When I click on a main story I have to sort through 3 separate screens to get to the story I want. I just thank God for Television. Time warner was somwhat unadulterated till aol came in.
Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

With the clusters of Oats miller built into his tape studies, Something wrong appears. Some thing.
He didnt create Redundant Copies

Dont You Remember, Fortran wasnt Y2K compatable, wow! seems like thats how long ago nasa tried to reach mars. Maybe they should try the candy. -a
i hope that evolution has some groovin lawyers, we might see the end of where we came from
I love it, maybe we can make the foil into semiconducters, write an assembler language, then port linux and cluster it
Wow, I Wonder when they can embed this into a linux system. Fire flys will soon power all of googles search arrays.
