I know a few model railroaders, besides friends ones in each of four generations of my family.
Those people have one thing in common, all have or had girlfriend / boyfriend when younger, and married later.
So I challenge anyone with named slashdot account to refute my assertion if their personal experience different, in other words who is a slashdotter who is a virgin and/or has OCD but is a model railroad buff.
it was France and the guys were off duty. No guns for them, nor will there ever be guns for guys in their situation. Not remotely relevant to issue of gun ownership in America. We already own guns in America and can carry them.
So the rapist that is tearing the clothes off your daughter, is that an appropriate target of this peace and goodwill of which you write? Or is an attack the proper response? You speak of ideals in a world where a significant percentage of people do not hold them and are evil. Are you suggesting it's better to just let oneself be a victim and have no tools for protection?
You are very confused, a taser and stun gun are two very different things. Educate yourself on the difference before spewing. Link one article about a death caused by a stun gun.
Mexico has very strict gun laws, a civilized gun violence-free paradise by your reasoning, yes?
You rather wish a person to be a victim than to have to the means to protect themselves, that says something about your level of intelligence and civilization.
"I won't say if I ever followed through or not" is something only someone who followed through would say, of course.
"unsuccessful couples": number one issue is not infidelity but financial issues.
Even if not having affair women will get into mode where everything partner does is wrong. Money matters can do it, boredom can do it, husband too focused on entertainment and fun outside the home, or lack of attention and intimacy can trigger that. Those kind of problems have a solution.
Moon base would have many the same issues as Mars base. No atmosphere from human being's lungs point of view (0.6% of earth's pressure on mars), high radiation, no concentrated water, need for tight recycling...it would be the ideal place to solve many engineering problems of supporting humans on Mars mission.
Don't worry, the whole premise is false. Assuming usual 3 percent conversion efficiency, the volume of even fusion fuel sufficient to disassemble a planet is sixty six (66) of those 5-7 mile diameter asteroids. That would fit into the volume of the Death Star's 150 km diameter. If that energy could be imparted entirely to a laser beam, it would be sufficient to vaporize an earth sized planet. No reason to put something in the core.
you don't need antimatter at all. The Death Star's volume is sufficient to house energy store that could impart enough to a laser or any other kind of particle beam to vaporize a whole planet. the premise is false.
as a plot device, some popular sci-fi stories at the time (e.g. Ringworld series) held that a hyperspace trajectory that passed within say light-year of star was "dangerous", kind of like going inside the event horizon of a black hole.
yes we use probes instead of manned craft so that is true.
there are many unsolved problems of humans going to Mars that make it absurd to attempt now. There are problems facing us in the near term that solving would not only benefit humans on earth but would solve some of those issues of Mars trip too.
For example, pursuing promising fusion reactor designs instead of the dead end of Tokomak including ITER sinkhole.
You have no idea of the amount of Federal subsidies for those things. Even the one million dollar new bike path in my town was built mostly with federal money
1 shilling in 1904 is worth five quid now!
Cows make cow shit. Only bulls make bullshit.
OS/2 is still around, IBM allowed these guys to license it http://www.ecomstation.com/
do we need so very many police agencies and spending 750 billion dollars (defense spending plus war costs) on military?
No.

You link to articles written by people ignorant as yourself.
These are stun guns, civilians can own them: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb...
Show one death caused by such devices. You can't.
These are tasers, that only police can have. They sometimes kill people.

This was act of robbery, not terrorism.

oh, the Bible belt is slaughtering people and blowing things up to change political will?
Get a grip, your christianphobia is swelling up
How is this related to slashdot's supposed themes, this is just general news
and the workers will be happier and have better lives from this politician greasing? maybe mostly a good thing?

Framers were acquainted with weapons of usually non-lethal effects. Brass knuckles and clubs and throwing darts are hundreds of years old.

Nothing forgotten, the meaning is transparent. It just doesn't agree with your beliefs so you won't remember it.
In 18th century English "well regulated" meant properly functioning.
The militia was every able bodied man aged 18 and over.

Have those HooperFlies flying through hoopsnakes, and then you'd really have something

No need, I've proven a Death Star can house sufficient energy store to power a laser that could disassemble a planet. The summary is just wrong.
