Not to mention being unwilling to pay a lousy $12,000 (as opposed to $6K) death benefits to the families of dead soldiers in Iraq after sending them there in the first place.
Every time SCO is quoted in the press, IBM and Linux advocates must immediately issue statements that whatever SCO said is bullshit and will be proven so in court.
This will keep the media game even.
As for the rest, wait for the court case and don't even bother arguing every little SCO disinformation release.
They complain that the editorial says this might cause a reduction in posts to Bugtraq, and this might not be true. So what? It could equally BE true. You don't know, so how is that a valid criticism of the editorial?
The morons complain that the guy "spammed" the ISP's customers. He sent ONE email, staggered out over three days to different people, so he wouldn't overload the email servers. Sounds responsible to me. How much spam do these customers get from Tornado anyway? You don't know, do you? I get spam from Yahoo occasionally just because I have SBC DSL.
They complain he was "irresponsible" because he didn't use "other channels". Like what? If he posts it ANYWHERE in public, he gets hit with the same charge. What PRIVATE channels are there that would work if talking directly to the ISP management did not work? Does he call Ahh-nold and get him to pressure the ISP?
Face it, you right-wing, statist-worshipping geek pussies. The guy did the right thing. HE BLEW THE WHISTLE. The government did the wrong thing. THEY PUT HIM IN JAIL FOR WHISTLE-BLOWING.
1) This is just more Nazi tactics from our wonderful Nazi society lead by our Great Leader George Bush II (son of the equally Great Leader George Bush I).
2) The real question - who is getting paid to WATCH these cameras? I mean, if the point is SAFETY, somebody needs to be watching them continuously. If the point is just oppression, they just need the camera to be present and the tapes reviewed periodically. Right? So if nobody is watching the cameras continuously, then we know what the point is.
3) Read the article - these are INTERNET cameras. Which means anybody with some hacking smarts can access these cameras via unsecured servers. And we can imagine how well the average school district's servers are secured. Do YOU want perverts like me watching your girls in class? Capturing the images and uploading them to the Net on porn sites?
You're joking but depending on where he is being held that is exactly his condition.
When I was arrested for bank robbery, I was held first for a few days in the San Francisco Country Jail - you do NOT sleep there unless you are unconscious because somebody knocked you out.
Then I was moved to Alameda Country Jail because the Federal Detention Center at Dublin was overcrowded. There you could turn off the light and get some sleep at night IF you had a cellie who didn't want to stay up all night. During the day you had to listen to a blaring radio that played only two stations - rap music and Top 40 - 1965 Top 40. Both genres drive me fucking nuts.
When I was first arrested, I was told by every inmate that I did not look like a bank robber. After ten months, I was told I very definitely looked like a bank robber.
They do this to you DELIBERATELY to make you look like hell in your court appearances so that judge and jury will throw the book at you. Unless you have outside family to provide you with decent court clothes for your court appearances (or like Winona Ryder you are out on bail and have a fashion designer working for you), you are hit.
Okay, I KNOW that's not the same thing, but human music has little more to do with human survival than a bird call does. In fact, less, which is the point. Birds call as a mating and territorial behavior caused by evolution.
The point is humans do music for complex reasons having to do with the human brain's ability to do conceptual processing and imagination. It's not something that by itself is a distinguishing characteristic of the human species. It's a side effect of human evolution, essentially the same as bird calls are a side effect of their evolution.
You are correct, however, that my point was more about consumption than about music per se. Humans will continue to make - and distribute - music regardless of what happens to the music industry.
are arguing here that everything in UNIX is perfectly comprehensible, but they have been arguing over how tar works for the first 100 posts or so?
'Nuff said.
Morons.
A GUI equivalent should exist somewhere in the user interface for every UNIX command (including pipes - and previous/. articles have demonstrated this is possible) and every GUI should include every option for the command.
Is that too hard to comprehend? Is that too hard to do? Is there some reason NOT to do it?
Red Hat has a capitalization of over a billion dollars and has a couple hundred million in the bank. SCO has a capitalization of of maybe $100 million and a few million in the bank - just enough to pay Boise. As a recent comment in InfoWorld points pointed out, Red Hat can take SCO all by themselves.
We only need IBM because they are the ones being charged by SCO with the IP theft that started all this.
So Red Hat's case is basically a side issue, but it is damn important not to let SCO win this case in the media. Red Hat taking the offensive is important for this reason.
Government is not run for your benefit (or the benefit of anyone else but the governors and those that pay them).
The laws are bad, they will stay bad, they will in fact get worse, and if you aren't prepared to pick up a gun (or a nuke), don't even bother trying to convince me you want to do something because nothing you do will make the slightest bit of difference.
Next year the North Koreans will pop a nuke off on US soil for the first time in history, courtesy of your government. Think about that one for a while. Sort of makes copyright law a non-issue, right?
Probably.
Maybe.
Will I be
Oh, that's a certainty.
what Richard Hoagland has to say about it.
Probably thinks the neo-Nazi conspiracy to destroy us all and fly off to Mars in the UFOs will come to fruition this year.
Actually, I hope he's right. I'd love to see the ruling elite leave Earth forever - although I'd prefer in body bags.
(For those of you who don't know who he is, think "Art Bell permanent guest".)
Do you really need to ask how Bush won?
What you should be asking is how he intends to win NEXT time?
Believe me, he has something worse planned this go round.
Not to mention being unwilling to pay a lousy $12,000 (as opposed to $6K) death benefits to the families of dead soldiers in Iraq after sending them there in the first place.
It doesn't get more hypocritical than that.
What part of wealthy assholes running the country for their own benefit didn't you understand?
I'm using Pico until I can learn jEdit.
So there!
Otherwise, Georgy is the man...er, the babe!
Even Bob Cringely wants her phone number! (Actually I think he'd take Arianna's phone number. Maybe even Coleman's.)

Comical Ali is now working for SCO. Fuck 'em.

Now fuck off.
I think about the same amount of time as it takes for me to hit the "Submit" buttom and for the post to show up on the page.
The "Right Thing"?
You are an utter idiot. Or a Zionist.
I don't even have to say any more.

So I'd vote for you - if I wasn't an anarchist, that is.
"Don't vote - it only encourages them."

Users are morons.
Humans are composed of two classes - techs and users.
Ergo, all humans are morons.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. You're right, though, it still doesn't seem like all that useful for either company.

No - so get on it.
FINALLY IBM gets off their fat duffs and makes a move!
You gotta stick it to SCO to look like an industry leader. And now IBM is looking better.
Between Red Hat and IBM (and maybe SuSE who is said to be looking at joining in), it's looking up for us and down for SCO in the Linux media wars.
Now I can go back to worrying about when Bush will invade North Korea.
Red Hat has a capitalization of over a billion dollars and has a couple hundred million in the bank. SCO has a capitalization of of maybe $100 million and a few million in the bank - just enough to pay Boise. Red Hat moves where IBM is stumbling!
Go, Red Hat!
Take the fight to the enemy!
AND it's good business. Now who looks like an industry leader in the press today. It ain't IBM.
