You maybe still struggling with sad broadband! Here down in India I am roaring on the superhighway with a beautiful 28.8kb (b for bits). Its really beautiful down here in the fast lane, everything whizzes by so darn fast.

But seriously ever since I moved back from broadband to modem, I have been more selective with what I do on the Internet. Hence a lot less wasted time and lot more meaningful information.

  11. Re:Top-secret information? on Purchase Your Personal Gene Map · · Score: 1

Insurance Companies already discriminate against particular groups when setting insurance premiums. E.G.Young drivers in the state of NYC Pay a much higher auto preimum than most, this is discrimnation based on age and location in action.
Using genetic information when doing risk-evaluation merely would put in another level of discrimination into the current system.

Also one has to take into account Insurance companies are kept in check by the laws of the land .For Example Ethnicity/Color of Skin/Religion cannot be take into account when evaluating risk for an individual. Similarly it could be possible to outlaw genetic profiling in calculating insurance premiums.

  12. This stuff is pretty cool on Crypto Leash for Laptops? · · Score: 1

This sounds pretty cool but what stops someone from stealing the transmission codes while in the presence of the owner and using a reprogrammed transmitter with the correct key to bypass the encryption. Another random thought why don't we just stick a GPS transmitter built into the system that gives the computers encrypted co-ordinates at bootup. Then if the user lost his computer he could ask verify its co-ordinate using his decryption key in his transmitter.
