Thats the sort of stuff I heard about 15 years ago, a little late, those guys should have been hard at a new release the day java got popular and got $100s of millions of dollars in developer seeding in the 90s
Come on intel, give us a microcode C# & java VM accelerator in the cpu.
If I walk into a bank and tell the manager, all the flaws in their security , he might get anoyed but you havent broken any 'known laws' (who reads all 13000 pages)
I bet $199,000 of that loss to facebook was hiring a lawyer.
unless the SSD delivers false 0x00000000000s or 0xffffffffffffffffs. it should never blue screen, normal HDs will never blue screen, even with lots of read errors, they just get super slow.
Yes, the drivers at the OS level are probably crap.
To deliver fast speed from one single file, is trivial, its delivering fast cached, in order, small reads queued at the rate of 50000 IOPS that can push the controller chip to its limits, and some stupid buffer overflows happen.
This is what you get with code that has few range checks, input arg validation, even in loop sections that assume a value is kosher might get 'corrupted' and point to random disk offsets.
Better code takes more IFs , which is slow, so either dodgy code is made now, or we wait years for faster controller chips mhz.
out of 130 years its nothing, and our Sun isnt a static LED either, its very dynamic, and its the ONLY input energy source to earth.
How about 1000 years of history - or 5000 or 10000. Climate is never STATIC or 100% in a perfect repeated cycle.
But if you really want to reduce C02, just stop cutting down trees in south america and asia. Stop buying solid wood furniture and tables. Stupid dumbass locals, just like african wild life poachers and japanese whalers. Only caring about their next weeks pay packet at the expense of diminishing resources.
It all comes down to perpetual economic growth in a limited size ecosystem. Again, dumbass economists with zero physics lessons which should be a must in an econ degree.
Because of either java or X, they dont default to anti alias, you have to edit the netbeans.conf file and add an arg to java to force on antialias, then your netbeans will run at 5fps.
Come on, if gpu hardware can do millions of triangles per second, why not just put the whole editor gui in openGL, it would run faster than softrendered.
If the java lang requires constant updates new features, that just means the current java is 'not good enough' . If you have 100 variations in a language VM, then its already shit. IF its not perfect today, it will never be perfect, if it gets updated too often, its just bloat, and 10000 pages of refererences.
By that definition, you must fire the CEO every 6 months to not make them invaluable and costly.
What about accountants, they are indispensable, how about we write a computer program to make them obselete?
Oh that wife is too valuable, hey Mr Manager smart ass, divorce your wife coz shes too critical to your life (who else would fuck a fat shit drunk mofo)
And if no one is valueable in your company , its easy to clone and make a competitor to your company if everything is outsourced and not inhouse.
USA manifesto = short term bliss and long term goolag.
your wrong, every normal HD will become a hybrid , especially if 8gig flash becomes just a $4 overhead.
So a RAID 6 x 750HHD setup would kick ass in price over your discount rare offer of 256Gb * 18 setup.
SSD is nice, but you dont need it for rarely used data, so unless you run a twitter or major site which makes money, you dont need 5tb of SSD.
Every HD today has DRAM cache of just 16-32meg. So the cheaper that is, the more you can use, and if NAND is cheap, add another layer of 8-32gig of NAND cache on your giant 4tb drive.
LESS HD access = less wear and tear = longer life before FAILURE.
So, just the same as
foreach(i in v)
in other 4GL langs for how many years ?.
Maybe because pure C++ with all its advances looks worse than random perl code or assembly.
Im not asking for cobol like scheme, but come on, enough of the !@#$%^&*(){}|} magic

ie the 120G is really a 115G as reported by windows
formated its down to 106 Gb
yeah 100% false fake advertising.
How can they get away with it, a 120 is really a 115, if its 120 in hardware, but appears as 115, its still 115.
Im sure real 128G SSDs have a few hidden Gig as reserve, but its not advertised as a 135G.
Lucky I only used 60 out of the 120 (115) ((106))
'Same bug' happened to my 16G Toshiba - generic - no fancy name. After 3 weeks of 12/24 usage, fail, no data, no files, says 8MB.
POS CRUD

exactly
like wise, the opposite is impossible, since it would be illegal to SELL a chip without paying for a licence.
So if you buy a chip, its assumed, its already paid for.
Else... the chip maker is breaking the law and must pay the licence as they are selling it first point of call.
Its not like apple sells hardware to retail chains patents unpaid, and the retail chain has to pay patents.
The future plan is already designed, but not scheduled for 30+
Its the bat wing design, it holds more people and uses less fuel.
So most people wont have a window seat, big deal.... little change to now.
The only thing slowing down humanity is excess regulation and govt control and hippie greenies complaining of anything about nuclear.

well now, lets see how well you sing after pure O2 for a few hours.
Oh and it makes babies go blind too.
There you go, no flash, I bet other problems are caused by flash, i know often flash can leak too but appear as firefox.
We need to kill flash.
I wouldnt settle for anything below 4 gig, and I prefer 8gig for general use. Server side, 16gig is so cheap, id make it default
Aslong as beach mansions and realestate is still in the millions, its all good, nothing will happen.

Version 7 is on the same page as the 6 download
Url is http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java7.xml

Because its a 100% corporate for profit language, I hope its banned in all universities because only real open languages should be tought there.
If zero grads know java, that will kill java.
Dont worry, Gore will put a $30 per page carbon tax on paper for books, so his personal shares in apple go up 100 fold.
I found a phone, and it wasnt bricked. I just made sure to pull out the orig SIM, and go 100% wifi, no cell networks at all.
Eventually after a month, even after the phone was 'unlocked' to allow other cariiers, they barred/blocked the phone based on IMEI number alone.
It wasnt bricked, just 'barred', and not usable, except for wifi.

Show me a SSD drive that can update firmware without a reformat.
The MTBF includes the 10,000,000 HDs in storage in the warehouse, they mostly wont fail, but some drives in a package unused, can still fail.

unlike modern vietnam, and south korea, I wouldnt consider iraq/iran any tropical holiday destination in the next 500 years.
