    yeah 100% false fake advertising.

    How can they get away with it, a 120 is really a 115, if its 120 in hardware, but appears as 115, its still 115.

    Im sure real 128G SSDs have a few hidden Gig as reserve, but its not advertised as a 135G.

    Lucky I only used 60 out of the 120 (115) ((106))

    'Same bug' happened to my 16G Toshiba - generic - no fancy name. After 3 weeks of 12/24 usage, fail, no data, no files, says 8MB.

    unless the SSD delivers false 0x00000000000s or 0xffffffffffffffffs. it should never blue screen, normal HDs will never blue screen, even with lots of read errors, they just get super slow.

    Yes, the drivers at the OS level are probably crap.

    To deliver fast speed from one single file, is trivial, its delivering fast cached, in order, small reads queued at the rate of 50000 IOPS that can push the controller chip to its limits, and some stupid buffer overflows happen.

    This is what you get with code that has few range checks, input arg validation, even in loop sections that assume a value is kosher might get 'corrupted' and point to random disk offsets.

    Better code takes more IFs , which is slow, so either dodgy code is made now, or we wait years for faster controller chips mhz.

    like wise, the opposite is impossible, since it would be illegal to SELL a chip without paying for a licence.

    So if you buy a chip, its assumed, its already paid for.

    Else... the chip maker is breaking the law and must pay the licence as they are selling it first point of call.

    Its not like apple sells hardware to retail chains patents unpaid, and the retail chain has to pay patents.

    Because of either java or X, they dont default to anti alias, you have to edit the netbeans.conf file and add an arg to java to force on antialias, then your netbeans will run at 5fps.

    Come on, if gpu hardware can do millions of triangles per second, why not just put the whole editor gui in openGL, it would run faster than softrendered.

    If the java lang requires constant updates new features, that just means the current java is 'not good enough' . If you have 100 variations in a language VM, then its already shit. IF its not perfect today, it will never be perfect, if it gets updated too often, its just bloat, and 10000 pages of refererences.

    I found a phone, and it wasnt bricked. I just made sure to pull out the orig SIM, and go 100% wifi, no cell networks at all.

    Eventually after a month, even after the phone was 'unlocked' to allow other cariiers, they barred/blocked the phone based on IMEI number alone.

    It wasnt bricked, just 'barred', and not usable, except for wifi.

    The MTBF includes the 10,000,000 HDs in storage in the warehouse, they mostly wont fail, but some drives in a package unused, can still fail.

    your wrong, every normal HD will become a hybrid , especially if 8gig flash becomes just a $4 overhead.

    So a RAID 6 x 750HHD setup would kick ass in price over your discount rare offer of 256Gb * 18 setup.

    SSD is nice, but you dont need it for rarely used data, so unless you run a twitter or major site which makes money, you dont need 5tb of SSD.

    Every HD today has DRAM cache of just 16-32meg. So the cheaper that is, the more you can use, and if NAND is cheap, add another layer of 8-32gig of NAND cache on your giant 4tb drive.

    LESS HD access = less wear and tear = longer life before FAILURE.
