Once that is done, then a new network can be created that can only be accessed with GPLd software. Then the RIAA cannot access the network unless they pirate copies of the software. then under the DMCA, they can be sued by GNU and have to pay a million-trillion dollars......

We just ordered one in the office. we have about 40 win98 licenses and were looking for a white box system with no OS. We ordered one of the $599 systems to see how they were(no lindows, no OS). I have been very impressed with the quality of the system. I was expecting a tin foil case, this thing is solid as a rock. I can build better sytems for a bit cheaper, but for mass quantities, these things are perfect for businesses. With Ghost, I can roll out dozens of these a day and still have time to do my actual job :-)

And the point of all this is? The fact remains that the US has opposed an international court which holds them responsible for their actions. In effect, it creates a higher power for the US to answer to. The real problem is not the court, but that the existence of the court conflicts with emperor Bush's plans for world domination.

Create a well-designed, easy-to-use web site that follows accessibility and useability guidelines.

You forgot to say "make sure it works in lynx because all disabled people use lynx as their browser."

Who makes the "guidelines" for usability. For accesibility? Do all disabled people get lumped together so that one guideline fit's all? Each disabled person has their own difficulties and there is no one size fits all approach. Disabled people are no different that any other person and it is up to them to empower themselves with the technology to view any webpage regardless of guidelines used.

Maybe we can use the gubment's guidelines and use PDF files which rate along with Flash as major web annoyances. I mean, so what if a disabled person gets annoyed having thir computer freeze because some clueless moron decided that the best way to give out a 1 page brochure was to put it into a 2 mb PDF. Don't you think disabled peopel get annoyed at this crap also. But it's okay, because it fit's the disability guidelline.

The best guideline any web developer can use is both common sense and do not interfere with the user regardless if they are disabled or not.

Public Libraries are _public_ places, owned by the _government_.

The US gubment does not own anything. They maintain property for the common good of the people. As a citizen of the US, you have every right to question how the gubment uses any of the public's property.

Furthermore, in the case of public libraries, the local municipality is charged with maintaining the local library. Not only is the FBI infringing on the rights of the people, they are also infringing on the rights of the states which is in direct violation of the US constitution.

It amazes me how many of my fellow Americans do not understand that the US government exists to serve them, not the other way around.

And no, the corporations do not control the gubment. The most powerful government lobby has always been and will always be a "grass roots movement."

No, the latest versions of windows won't even boot. Try it; you'll find that you get an ugly blue screen telling you that the machine can't find the bootloader.

That will only happen if the IDE order has changed due to the drives being placed on cable select. Fixboot should solve that or you can manually edit the boot.ini file to tell the bootloader where the OS is.

No: What I assume he is talking about is that you can take a HD with BEOS on and transfer it to another computer and boot it, if you did this with a window installation and there was any significant difference in the hardware (ie PII System to K6-II system) it wouldn't boot. Ever hear of safe mode? boot into it, remove all the direvers and reboot. Windows will automagically detect the new drivers and install them/prompt for a disk. Intel mobos are trickier because you have to install the inf-install drivers before you can access the cd from windows (although you can boot from the CD).

Democracy and the right to vote are privileges. Some people don't deserve those privileges and should have them revoked. This is exactly what is wrong witht he world. Governing people is not a right, it is a privelage bestowed on certain people by the people to promote the betterment of society. So ask yourself, why do YOU NEED to be governed? Are you incapable of taking care of yourself? Democracy cannot work with large populations because ultimately the policies follow the money. The onlyu way to restore true democracy in America is to eliminate lobbyists and political contributions. In addition, policy MUST be set by public opinion which MUST not be swayed by a media which works in the interest of the lobbyists. In it'sa current form in the US: Democracy + Capitalism = Corporate Dictatorship.

...american record companies lose money? This, http://www.bertelsmann.com/index.cfm?oldBrowser=0 is not an American company. For a theft to have occurred or for a loss to have been suffered, the downloader would have had to consider buying the music before he downloaded it. For example, I would never Buy a Britney Spears CD. Since I would never buy it, whether I download it or not has absolutely NO impact on the recording company or the artist. This is the whole point many are missing. Just because someone gains does not ALWAYS mean another has lost. That is also the problem with intellectual property as opposed to physical property. The only difference between me downloading the song and listening to it at my choice of time and listening to it on the radio or those 24 channels of digital direct tv music is choice. Either way, I listen to it and it costs me nothing. It is quite clear that the issue is not theft, but rather CONTROL. In the end, the RIAA and the Artist still own the music and the physical CD's
