  1. EULA on DNA on Contract Case Could Hurt Reverse Engineering · · Score: 1, Funny

I think I'll put an EULA on my DNA, so that I can sue anyone that tries to reverse engineer my genes. Then, when genetic-based drugs become the norm, I'll sue for EULA violation.

When they tell me that the genome was mapped before my EULA, I'll simply reply that I'm a recently released version (into adulthood).

I'll also release a seperate EULA to all potential girlfriends, stating explicitly what fair-use (or should I say, fair play?) entails when handling my hard and software. Because, you know, the Ladies LOVE a sexy EULA.

    Yes... Yes.

  4. Does everyone want it? on DSL Hardware for Wiring Condos? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Seriously - that's the first thing that came to mind.

If only 25% of people in your complex want the service, depending on which provider you're getting with, installation and continued service could be a shaky proposition.

The true secret to success... clever condescending trash talking.

  7. No telemarketers my ass... on Cell Numbers To Be Added To 411 · · Score: 3, Informative

When I worked for a telemarketing company, a regular feature of the sales campaigns was cold-calls to cel-phones. The data-gathering systems they had were crazy intrusive - every last bit of number indicative data buyable or attainable through any method was in the massive databases, and refreshed as soon as a call cycle was complete. I always remember this converstaion I monitored: Sales Rep: Hello Miss, this is Shelly on behalf of yadda yadda yadda Called Lady: You know that this is a cel-phone, right? Sales Rep: I understand that this is a cel-phone, right? And that's why we're calling today with this great offer, RIGHT! Called Lady: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! (hangs up) *Shudder* 411 means nothing, they already have your number (unless you're from Missouri, heh)

  8. Re:Yeah, Well, I'm Not Running Out to Buy It on Sprint PCS Launches 3G Network · · Score: 1

No kidding: Sprint is terrible. In Canada Sprint moved in to provide long distance prices of ten cents a minute anytime. They pulled out later (four months) and offered only a partial compensation, as Sprint Canada filed for bankruptcy. Sprint also operates those pseudo-1800callatt lines, so if you dial one digit off, you get slammed with a hyper-inflated rate by any standard ($16/minute, for instance). Terrible company!
