Try mounting a large 50 kg HDTV on the sort of plasterboard wall common in offices then get back to us. When the alternative is a roll up TV probably weighing in at a few kilos its no contest.
Instead of pulling down the whitescreen for a TV projector from a roll, you actually roll down the TV itself - flexible screen comlpete with black backing and polymer based circuitry. 10 years I reckon before these are in the shops.
When people vote for a party they generally vote for the leader. They have a choice not to vote for that party if they don't like the leader. What choice did anyone have over Gordon Brown as prime minister? None. And given that a new prime minister = new policies he has NO mandate to govern whatsoever and point blank refuses to call a general election.
There are these things called "books" which the kids can read if they want to which will teach them what they need in most cases. And if they can't afford them there are these amazing places called "libraries" where they can go.
"That's called evolution, baby! If you're the kind of person who's going to think "hey, that corrosion on the wing supports can wait 'till next year", and your still going to fly the thing, then you deserve what you get."
Yeah , but the people on the ground you land of top of don't.
"I'm sorry but honestly why do I care what happens to projects in the inner city? "
Most of us don't care about them. They have the same chances as anyone else - if they worked hard they could make something of their lifes. Clearly they can't be bothered so thats their problem, they can stay where they are - they're not getting my pity or charity money. I'll save that for people in developing countries who don't have opportunities like everyone in the west does, don't get hand outs for deliberately doing nothing, don't shove drugs up their nose instead of working and don't consider only being able to afford a 29 inch flat screen instead of a 40 inch one poverty. F*ck the projects and the losers who live in them.
And no , I'm not trolling, those are my views. Take them or leave them.
I wouldn't want to be around when one of these that has done 20,000 miles of potholes, salt, grit and all the other things you drive through on the road that mess up vehicles takes to the air because god knows what it would do to a light airframe over 10 or 20 years. Sure , you're supposed to do maintenance - but that doesn't prevent loads of cars breaking down at the side of the road due to lack of it. If people drive this like a car (even if they're qualified pilots) they may start to treat it like a car rather than like an aircraft and skip on servicing. The rest you can guess.
"And what kind of DNS service are you using if you resort to typing addresses? You might want to make some improvements."
Here in many firms I've worked in they don't bother assigning even auto generated DNS names to internal desktop workstations. They get an IP number from DHCP and thats it. If you have to access the box from elsewhere in the building its via the numeric address only.
.. that for quick and dirty use the numeric address are just too complicated. Sure it has benefits wrt security, routing and a load of other behind the scenes stuff. But for people who are used to using numeric ip4 addresses when DNS is slow or for testing purpose or setting up various IP tables or 101 miscellanious things , ip6 is a royal PITA.
Ok , thats hardly a reason for not using it but I suspect its perhaps one reason why people are relunctant to try it. Half a line of hex is not user friendly.
... but for some curious reason it requires a fortran compiler as well as a C compiler to build the whole system.
Sorry R team , but theres no way I'm installing an entire fortran compiler just to install your system.
Why can't they write the whole thing in C for heavens sake? The days when C couldn't handle floating point very well (if thats the reason) are long gone.
I used to dual boot a BSD 6.0 system with linux but after it chewed up my ext2/home directory on a couple of occasions I just stopped using it. Not worth the hassle of restoring from backup just to use an OS that offered little over Linux aside from quicker bootup/shutdown times.
Genrally its to sunbath, swim, surf, 101 other water activities or even get off with your gf. Its generally *not* to sit around playing with a mobile phone.

Short of some miracle that allowed the astronauts to ride out the tumbling fireball until at 10,000 feet then bail out with parachutes on their backs this accident was unsurvivable no matter how much they'd tinkered with the space suits or seat restraints.
..perhaps you should consider getting a friggin landline for when you're on call!
If you're an emergency doctor and you rely on mobile devices to get emergency calls you're an ass. A pager or mobile is fine in a hospital where theres always a backup PA system to call you , but its NOT fine when you're at home.
... the same aspects of intelligence can arise independently in different species. I don't know if the article mentioned this (because its very long and I only had time to skim it) but this means the nascent potential evolutionary building blocks for intelligence are widely distributed in species in nature and given a chance will give riser to a smarter brain. Surely a more complex path to intelligence would be one that required specific stepping stones that only ever appeared in a small number of species and all had to occur in sequence?

No , they don't. Fact.
"Some people see four *primary* colors"
None of which stretch into the infra red.

Yeah , right. Why not RTFA - the guy didn't do the test in the dark - his eyes were receiving the light and sending it to part of his brain , just not the part the part that produces concious sight. He didn't have some magic 6th sense and neither do you so cut the BS.

why are you using Windows the first place? MS is hardly the white knight of the software industry.

"oovercoming adversity of growing up in an innercity environment"
Wheres my violin when I need it?
The only adversity in the inner city is the bone idleness of its inhabitants.
Oh boo hoo.
There are these things called "books" which the kids can read if they want to which will teach them what they need in most cases. And if they can't afford them there are these amazing places called "libraries" where they can go.
If someone really wants to succeed they will.

Though DNA addresses could be the future!
"When was the last time you used an IP address instead of a domain name"
About 30 minutes ago ftp'ing to one of the many boxes here than arn't assigned a DNA name on the local network.

When I said given a chance the evolutionary pressure was a given. You're not going to find an intelligent species arise out of the blue for no reason.

There are many things that would float my boat project wise in IT , working on a word processor or spreadsheet isn't one of them.
