  1. Even so , 8 bit machines were still built to a price - the components were hardly top of the range. I'd be amazed if its been running continuously for 25 years with no issues whatsoever. Also eastern europeans brought up in soviet times tend to be pretty good at repairing stuff for obvious reasons so I wouldn't be surprised if the are plenty of engineers around the area who could sort out the analogue electronics, even if the digital side would be too much.

    Reality check: Yes, the arabs came up with a lot of new maths, the chinese invented gunpowder and a few other odds and sods. But this all pales into insignificance compared to what the west has created since the industrial revolution.

    Delete the last tab on the last line of a python block. Does the code still run? Almost certainly. Does the interpreter give a warning? Nope.

    Now delete the last curly bracket from a C/C++/java block. Does the code compile? Not on your life. And if I have to explain why then you have no business giving an opinion on this topic.

    Pretty much. Indentation should be about the look of the code in an editor, nothing more. It should be irrelevant as to how the compiler compiles it.

    Algae certainly is the main source, but the amount the forests produce definately isn't miniscule.

    Herd/pack animals need to communicate with each other in some way so the brain structures must be present to allow them to communicate using either voice or body language or in this case pointing.

    I seriously doubt that. Lauching might become cheaper but thats all. Until a completely new type of space drive system is invented that doesn't rely on chucking mass backwards to move forwards humans won't be going much further than the moon again anytime soon. Even trips to mars are a pipe dream due to it being a one way trip.

    Err, its *currently* 10K acres burning. There are 180+ square miles already burnt. And so what if even that is a small percentage, its not small if you live near there or have been affected.

    FWIW I'm not hating on Musk, I just think people should get their priorities of things to be concerned about in order.

    I mean never mind all the property that has been destroyed, the huge amount of forest destroyed and wildlife killed and peoples lives put in danger. No, lets pity a space company run by a billionaire that is adding to the problem of climate change launching rockets using huge amounts of fuel (even if its just H2+O2 that still requires vast amounts of energy to create) carrying yet more soon-to-be space junk into orbit.

    Yes, but its not so much the language, more than the core Unix API has remained pretty stable now for going on 30 years.

    The last few series of RD were a bit inconsistent and thats being kind. And the recent special was ok , but not hilarious. I can't help thinking a revival is partly a retirement fund for the writers and actors rather than because they have any new ideas and comedy. Still, fingers crossed. Also lets hope Chloe Annette is back in. She can't act for shit but boy is she still fit even in her 40s ;)

    I mean that they have decided *after* her death to use recordings that were done for another series. She didn't record them for the new series then die.
