  1. ohhh, it's not limited to .com's on She Was Fired, But Never Told · · Score: 2

Years ago I worked in a Distribution Center for the GAP. I was one of the ppl in the MIS staff there and got to work in a somewhat relaxed land of mainframes and cubicles. This one operator didn't fit in too well with the crowd, took a few too many sick days and showed up late a few times (he was commuting over an hour). one friday he called in sick, the boss said ok no problem and hung up, promptly called security had his key card deactivated, all access to everything removed and told one of the other operators to box his stuff up and take it out to security. no notice no call no you're fired. He got to drive an hour the next monday to find out he couldn't even get in the building. That's a little corse.

I've tried some of the older solutions (the old IR stuff) the lag was horrible, and made me feel like i was disconnected from what i was doing, this keyboard just sits on my lap and keeps pluggin away. *****

true true, but there is another effect at work here, you brain has a strange effect on image processing, you have to remember that you are not processing stills but actually motion video, the brain can take partial video information over a period of time and stitch it together to tell you what you are looking at. it really dosen't help the initial crappy quality you'll see but you should be able to read.

Take a digital movie and compress the **** out of it, ok any one frame is unreadable, now watch the movie, though irratating you definately see whats going on (for the most part).

  16. The problem is where do you draw the line. on Another Software Spy · · Score: 1

This battle has been going on for some time, I personally would have no problems with a software company taking note of my hardware in installation of software so that they could better prepare and support the platform and hardware I choose(or anyones for that matter). It makes a lot of sense.
But how do you limit what they are allowed to take? There should be a standardized part of each install that meantions we are sending information about your hardware to the software company so that we may better support your hardware in the future.
There definately is a need for this information to be recorded and summarized, but it needs to happen in a way as not to truly invade anyones privacy. I don't care if they want to know what vid card or platform or even processor (excluding sn heh)I use but I don't want them logging where I play, snooping around for what other games I play or sending me 'direct marketed advertising'.
