The only thing it needs is multiuser support. And you wanna know what? When it does get multiuser support, it will probably be faster, easier and sleeker than Linux's.
Right now I think all Linux effort should go into ease of use issues.
MSAfrica, the next revolution! Sponsored by MSBET. Funded by Bill Gates's chump change.
BTW, swing by MSBET.com, it is a well designed site. For real.
The Ring of Fire is a worthy project. If all goes well, it will reach out to a high percentage of Africans in the future. If not, well, it was still worth it.
My goal would be to run Windows as a guest. Most anything Linux can do, BeOS can do better. Unless you need multiuser support, of course. EC

The multiuser aspect is something that will hopefully be remedied soon. Otherwise, it can handle the task very well. Look at http://www.betips.net/TrackerBase/ and http://www.byte.com/features/1999/04/0426BeOS3.htm l for some interesting info, even if you don't care about BeOS.
BeOS actually lets me get some work done...Linux

I have Linux and BeOS on my machine. Of the two, the BeOS actually lets me get some work done for doing general purpose, graphics, hell even server type applications. Check out www.be.com/beware and see what is there, with a lot more coming down the pike this year. Even Apache 2 is being ported over.
I for one think that BeOS should never be open source, it would be letting all the good code out of the bag. The only reason why there is an open source Linux is because it tried copying UNIX, and is therefore not very innovative.
I think that the internet may be too good to be true as is.
Corporations are getting too big and the government is too small and weak to really do anything about it. Look at the MS trial, what harm is really going to come of MS from it? Not much.
If the internet becomes too expensive for me personally (to use at home), and at work I am behind a restrictive firewall, well I have no choice but to give up on the internet as a useful tool for my own personal gain. Without the internet, I might as well throw out my PC too. Disgust would drive me too it.
I say I hope Quest whips US West into shape. I have had my share of problems with them.
Hey if you ever are not getting anywhere with one of their reps, just ask them how to go about filing a formal complaint. They will then REALLY try to fix your problem.
TCI@Home is coming to my area here in Iowa at a snails pace. If you ask me, they are all bad.
I seen that too. HTML is a subset of XML, but it sure in the hell would not warrent a .xml
Maybe they think they are going to make some sort of XML transition. They better wait a couple of years.
How about this?

OS/2 has driver problems. IBM should really put some money into it if they think it has a chance. Otherwise, it is just that half-dead OS.

Maybe for release 5. Thanks for the link man!

Considering the speed hit of VMWare, it would be a shame to run BeOS as a guest
