  1. hrmm on RIAA Says Accused Students Are Settling · · Score: 5, Insightful

What choice do they have but to settle really? Unfortunately the RIAA can throw mountains of money into any legal proceeding, what's Joe Pirate to do :) ?

  2. spying on Canada on Widespread Spying Preceded '04 GOP Convention · · Score: 1

As for spying on Canada, I've read that our spy agency CSIS spends a considerable amount of time keeping an eye on American spies on our soil. Or maybe they are just saying that and have no idea if/where American spies are operating.

  3. music on RIAA Going After a 10-Year-Old Girl · · Score: 1

It's funny, if the little girl wasn't downloading the latest Britney Spears, but rather some unknown indie music, she might have gotten away scot free. Let that be a lesson parents, it is never to early to educate your children on good music :)

  4. keep the Bill Murray video games coming! on Ghostbusters Game Confirmed, On Hold · · Score: 1

A Groundhog Day type game would be pretty cool. But I guess it would be pretty easy to figure out how to finish if you've seen the movie.

  5. subject beaten to death?? on Sony Ships 2 Million PS3s, May Still Miss Goal · · Score: 1

Maybe just slightly? You can't look at any of the major news sites, google news, etc... without Ps3/Wii/Xbox360 sales figures inundating you. How much of this actually matters to Joe Consumer? I speculate the only part of this that actually matters to most game buyers is that it'll be slightly easier to find a Ps3 on the shelves this Xmas than Wii.

  6. 15 years on Netflix Now Offers Instant Online Movie Streaming · · Score: 1

I predict the movie store goer (generation) still has 15 years left. These are the people my parents age who have no desire to work a DVD player, can check their hotmail, and are at retirement age. Once this very large market dwindles, then this doomsday scenario might have some legs.

  7. it's amazing on Blizzard Hints At New StarCraft, Launches Burning Crusade · · Score: 1

The number of people still playing Starcraft. It's still played quite often at Lan parties I go to.

  8. Speaking of replacing your Mac on Apple Begins Fixing MacBook Pro Issues · · Score: 1

I'm a longtime PC user who has been lured to the darkside. Can anyone recommend a reputable used Mac retailer online? Preferably in North America? I think I'm ready to make the used plunge :)

  9. Saves on incest costs.. on Alcatel and Lucent to Merge · · Score: 5, Interesting

The whole industry is very incestuous. It will save a lot of money from both companies kitty used to lure employees from the other. Don't count this as minor savings either. It was not uncommon at all for Lucent to fly Cisco/Nortel employees from Can to US for an interview at the spur of the moment -- including putting them up in hotel, costs, etc...

I do suspect this will lead to a lot of layoffs however. Do they really need 2 wireless divisions doing exactly the same thing?

  10. I'd be more interested.. on The Best of Web 2.0 · · Score: 3, Insightful

..in a best of developer technology list..
Stuff like AJAX, .NET Fx, Rails that is really making developing for the web much more fun.

  11. Perhaps on Google Acquires 5% of AOL · · Score: 1

Perhaps it's time to dump some of that golden Google stock :)

  12. BONO?? Props to the Gates' on Bill Gates, Time Magazine "Person of the Year" · · Score: 1

How bad does your band have to degrade themselves to, before your contributions as a humanitarian are outrivaled by the crapticity of your music.

  13. How many care? And misleading title on Retrofit Your Web Pages For Wireless Compatibility · · Score: 3, Insightful

Very interesting write-up, but how many webmasters/blogmasters/etc... really care if a webpage is hard to read on a mobile device? Isn't the title also misleading? This has nothing to do with whether the accessing device is "wireless" (my laptop is wireless), but rather if the accessing device is mobile (i.e small screen)
