  1. Re:it needs a phone on Handicapping the 6th Generation iPod · · Score: 0, Offtopic

I bought a Motorola SLVR and it's great. Even with just 100 songs, I no longer carry my iPod video. It is _extemely_ slow to sync--especially when transcoding higher bitrate songs (it won't play VBR or > 160kbps)--and iTunes practically locks up while it is syncing. The latter is more a problem with iTunes than the phone I think.

One warning to anyone thinking of buying a SLVR though: headset, charger, and USB hookup all go through the same mini din connector. It appears that these are prone to wearing out. Mine is becoming loose and caused my headset to stop working; no more music until I bought a new one! If the phone-side connection goes out then you're screwed and after just two months, it appears inevitable that I will need to buy a new phone within the year.

I would avoid any phone that uses the mini din for everything. The music functionality itself is good enough for me, and the camera is excellent compared to my last phone as well.

They're not necessarily trolling and the hardware might not be to blame. Here's my anecdotal counterpoint.

A patch a while back drove me to the brink. One to three times a day explorer would shut itself down when I opened my music folder in order to protect me against something (maybe a buffer overrun attempt in the metadata? of course I can't replicate it will typing this...). On my last computer, explorer would effectively crash when I opened a folder with a lot of movies; it would use 99% of the cpu and 100+MB of ram trying to generate thumbnails and wouldn't stop. It's a known problem apparently. Simply opening a folder would force me to restart explorer! A folder with say 100 files in it or less.

EXPLORER.EXE is a real piece of shit sometimes, but I still love it.

I bought the Motorola SLVR and the iTunes functionality is great. It syncs just like an iPod. Although 512MB is less than I'd like, my video iPod never leaves the house now.

Yes one cat, but I don't think my cat could have done this. I'd have trouble making those bends with my own bare hands. I thought maybe stress due to heat or something could have caused it to spontaneously bend out of shape, but even that seems pretty unlikely.

Ok, this is an honest question. I turned off the lights and lay down in bed one night, and I heard a rustle in my blinds right above my head. I bolted out of bed and turned on my light and saw that one of the blinds had bent outward as in this picture

    http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=10/30222404245.jpg& s=x11

Does anyone know what would cause this? There are two bends at 90 degrees and the paint was even scraped a little near the bend. I honestly can't figure it out and was hoping a skeptical mind might have an idea. I know the picture is blurry, but I took ten of the f-ing pictures and this was the best I could do givin the lighting conditions.

    Thanks.

    Just a guess here...

The problem isn't that x = 0. If it continued as written, every group of 3 terms ( (1,2,3) (4,5,6) , etc...) would sum to something strictly positive.

The problem is the exact definition of 'x'. Try to expand out the series for x just a little bit further and still get the identity x = x/2 to work out after adding the brackets. I think that you're going to have some trouble.

I used iRate. The vast majority of songs were crap (though there were a few good ones). I think that the record companies really are snapping up most of the talented artists. The only talented ones without contracts play music that the mainstream really can't enjoy.
