If you coded in the BASIC rules of our world, then the game world would simply fall into place.
I'm sure a real programmer like John Carmack would agree that nothing in game programming is simple. Actually that's not true--- initializing DirectX and/or OpenGL is simple;-)
So that's what trolling is;-) I'm new to this, but I reread that parent statement and it doesn't seem sarcastic at all. It was even written by an anonymous coward. Oh well, my bad!
After all, are not all peer-to-peer networks for the explicit purpose of infringing upon the rights of the owners?
That has got to be the most ridiculous statement I've had the pleasure of reading today. Have you ever connected two computers together using a cross-over cable or a hub? That's called a peer-to-peer network--- like 90% of all home networks in existence.
OK I can't stand the idea behind copy protection that is so distracting it pisses the average G.Q. Honest Citizen off.
I just have to add one thing here though which will probably irk many of you: Being a software developer myself, if I could invent the magical copy protection scheme that nobody can beat (which I believe is impossible), I would gladly license the technology to Microsoft, Corel, and anyone else that is interested to make bucketloads of $$$ from;-)
I would suggest investing in a cheap Game Boy Advance or something like that. It's more durable than your typical laptop and the games are cheaper. There's no moving parts, either, so you don't run the risk of "crashing" anything. Good luck.
what, you don't have a choice now? sony will keep making PS' and nintendo will keep making their systems until they run out of money--- which will be never.... it's great that there's another company in there--- ever since sega left there was only two companies left in the ring... now there's more choice, more competition...

Duke3d and it's cousin Blood can't be left out either 8-D

"Perhaps his son is only allowed to play games on the weekends when he doesn't have to think about school?"
;-)
That would suck to be 17 and only allowed to play games on the weekends. Maybe their parents should lighten up a bit if that was the case

Actually Duke3D was using Ken Silverman's code to run the 2-1/2D engine. Remember Ken's Labrynth? ;-) Same guy.
OK this has to be a joke because Microsoft's API is *NOT* OpenGL... but I guess 99.97% of /.ers probably know this already.
hate to be a little bitch but john carmack didn't do unreal... that was epic megagames' game...
