I hope you are never the cop who pulls someone over in diabetic keto acidosis... Looks like a drunk, smells like a drunk, acts like a drunk... And if you just dump them in the drunk tank, they will die and you will be on trial.
What if the diabetic keto acidosis guy goes and kills someone. Do you really want that person on the road? If they are driving impaired, they are driving impaired, you know. Or should it be legal to hit people because they have diabetes.
Is it really so hard to look it up before you comment on it?
No. But if you are followed out of a bar, and you're swerving in and out of your lane, and your breath smells like alcohol, and you throw up in the police cruiser, and you're dehydrated and sensitive to light the next day, the jury will probably convict you. And they would be right to.
And the breathalyser evidence would not even be needed, so discrediting it would be moot.
And by the time they pull you over, they probably already have probable cause (or close). By the time you're asked to take a PBT, there's almost assuredly probable cause for a blood warrant.
DUI checkpoints.
Sorry dude, but you don't seem to have a realistic grasp of programming OR the law.
The bottom line is, if someone is getting pulled over for DUI, its because they were already obviously driving smashed. You can see them when you drive - weaving, going slow, forgot to put the headlights on, maybe stopping too soon or too often... and for what? Really, for what do people do this?

I'd hate to see Slashdot supporting these wreckless drunks just because they claim to be l33t haX0rs.
That is the point. If the machine is faulty, they are not "drunks." Kinda like that printer wasn't really seeding Smells Like Teen Spirit. Only by examining the procedure for determining that state, can we know.
From the article (Nov 1999):
said Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York. ''There are many reasons for this bill, but first and foremost is to ensure that U.S. financial firms remain competitive.''
But I thought the Republicans were to blame for this economy... That is what the media said. You mean we can't trust our politicians and the media?
Too bad it takes so long to read the article... (Not that long, just a few minutes of shock afterwards) Then your would see his premise. The web as an archive is only a small part. A bigger part is how journalism is changing to quick payoff, not truly investigative. (Verifiably true) And that those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it (also true) and we did. And that this is not the machinations of one party but both. (Also provable)
Perhaps you should change that to "Don't believe something just because it was on the internet."
I anticipate that treating the web as an archive will ultimately lead to a frustrating dungeon of page-not-found errors, expired domain names and pay-to-access newspaper web sites.
Trisexual Puppy must have some amazingly bad karma, but in this case he is right. The skill is in quantifying the value of information. For example, knowing that wikipedia is not a source, but a link to sources.
I guess the irony of having to go to a "dirty pirate site" to get "the most secure windows ever" is lost on you. To get security, you have to steal it? (Or use %uname)
"While details are scarce for now, it looks as if this feature will only be available as a (free) addon for Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7. Also, a processor supporting hardware virtualization will be required, indicating that this is perhaps aimed more at power users and corporate users, rather than consumers."
Yet who is more likely to have old applications or hardware that will need XP? If you have the latest and greatest full bells and whistles OS, you probably have the latest version of your apps as well. Once again, MS misses the boat.
Still that's a bit like blaming the victim. "Oh my we should have planned to get robbed and put better locks on our doors on opening day. Our bad."
Or, "I shouldn't leave my date's purse on the front seat when I park on the street outside a club." Some crimes are predictable, and the precautions are reasonable.
Napster wasn't an era, it was a tool. It was replaced by a series of other tools, none of which came close to the ease and ubiquity of The Pirate Bay. And if it folds, (Still a big "if" right now) it will be replaced.

Show me defect-free source code, please and thank you very much.

Slashdot has way to much code running on the main page, my laptop's scroll can't keep up and goes bonkers.
I will get modded off topic for this (and correctly so) but me too. Lately the front page of slashdot feels like running quickbooks in 256 meg of ram!
So essentially challenging evidence gathering methods is insufficient, but making colorful posters and waving around a PhD is fine?
Yes. Like a slashdot legal opinion is worthless, and someone who has passed the bar has value. Who is questioning the procedure is relevant.

Ultimately?
Hadn't read that this was just stolen from below. http://tech.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1219979&cid=27798421

I am just waiting for it to show up on the torrent sites! Secure Windows, WooHoo!
No it is just a file requester that says "Are you sure you want to do this? Confirm or deny" over and over...
When do you think VM images will outnumber disk images on the pirate sites?
XP! Pre configured, fully loaded with apps, fully patched, and pre hacked. Please seed!

It is always fun when they make a movie for the producers, and not the intended audience.
Since its data on a chip that can be scanned without a holders knowledge...

That argument gets you more DRM, not less, you idiot.
Other than DRM has proven to be the now totally ignored car alarm, and you still leave her purse on the seat... No help, and it annoys your neighbors.
you stellar genius...
Props to being ahead of the curve on technology. Jeers for the technology they chose...

If only they could understand this in the USA. It takes years to get your crap back, if you ever do, from what I hear.
Ummm... It has been 3 years.
