    There is a lot of good info on Toms Hardware Guide. A PSU listed as 'high efficiency' is %75 efficient. Toms showed several at %85 or better. And some as low as %60. And that is on total power, so big gains here.

    The linux anti-virus system I run is sudo. It consumes very little power, or CPU cycles. And yet it is much more effective than McAntic.

    The question is not how much market share per platform, but how much of that market would purchase a given game? For example I doubt the cat scan machines at the hospital are likely to run Bioshock. Furthermore the Windows market is saturated, and the Linux market is starving. A good game in Linux has less competition.

    I too game on Linux. I have a lot of ancient games I emulate, but spend most of my time in purchased id software games. (And RRTWC:ET) The funny thing is that I never see pirated linux native games. I am sure they are out there, but not like in Windows. And the funny thing is that you need the game crack to play it in wine half the time...

    There is this new Company called Id Software. They plan an entire line of games with native Linux support. I think the first game will be called Quake Wars : Enemy Territory. Or they may have had 1 or 2 games before it.

    I do. We run the WiFi for several hotels. The storm worm traffic is easy to spot. We block them. They call support. A PFY says, "Oh, your 'DELL53476' and you have the storm worm." Then we tell them the closest Fry's or Best Buy. It ain't much, but I stopped 6!

    Because the latest one has a message like "I can't believe it is you" or "Look at the drunk chick" and a youtube link. Only by hovering over it, and looking at the bottom of the windows do you see it become an IP address with no other stuff. And after trying for 10 years, I have yet to teach my mother how to do this, why it is important, or what it means. It is actually one of the most cleaver wetware hacks I have seen in years. Too bad it works so well.

    On the contrary. This is another article for me to print for the PHB, telling him why I have had some much time over the last month.

    It is also a peer bonding thing, like "It burns when I pee." "Hey, it burns when I pee as well!"

    The selection is skewed in a way I can't figure out. It is lacking a lot of current popular music. However, I am not sure that is a bad thing... :) But it is also lacking some older stuff. Lets hope it grows.

    There are less people just hanging out saying Linux is cool. There are more groups of people with specific issues. Ubuntu LoCo's are picking up. Just natural evolution based on need. (And anyone who has attended one knows,/b. it is not intelligent design!)

    This is another example of how traditional media is dieing. It used to be that "the net" was a wild place of unfounded reports, biased reviews and slander. Now the print media has surpassed even the net, and it is slower! We are watching the desperate and terrified end of an era.

    This is one of the most amusing things about this entire debate. Microsoft really did the impossible with Vista. They united Windows AND Linux fanboys!

    If you look at the Dell "N" systems the DVD players all say "Data Only" in the description. As to codecs, you have Linspire (coming soon to Ubuntu) and Fluendo. These are now solvable problems, and that could be why Dell is considering this again.

    PS: World of Warcraft runs in Wine.
    DVR... MythTV?

    Yep... Linux has a way to go. Now excuse me while I go to play RTCW:ET in Ubuntu.

    Since the default install is one big root partition, your problem was one of your own making. Hard to blame that on Ubuntu. I have sold several Ubuntu systems that have been rock stable, with no problems. If you buy the right hardware, and don't get fancy with the configuration, it is rock solid. If you compile your graphics drivers, you just might have graphics problems. A long time ago, this used to be called common sense. I guess really-fucking-rare sense just doesn't roll off the tung.

    The magnet is non-definitive. I get a lot of 7.62x25 ammo that is copper jacketed and steel core. It also sparks when it hits a steel trap.

    Well, as a given ISP finds more and more of his IP addresses unable to get into more and more of the net, they may decide to start filtering the zombies at there gateway. Make them deal with there own spew... It worked for spam hosting domains. (But this was before spammers moved to bots nets. Actually it was WHY spammers moved to bot nets.)

    Think of this as a first step. Next more honeynets start making lists, and a new realtime blackhole routing list is born! Stop the botnets at the gates of the core. More bandwidth for everyone, and the people cut off will get the hint to fix/patch the damn PC!
