To make matters worse, the review is anti-consumer.

If you look at the Media Access Page, you will see that the federal courts force the FCC to "re-justify every major ownership rule or strike it from the books" every time there is a review.

The problem here is that the same corporations that want the relaxed rules also are among the largest soft-money donors. They buy the legislators and then demand favors.

Also, if the media becomes one great big company, who is really going to go up against it? That company would effectively control politics in this country.

I'm keeping my eyes on the boarder for now.

What is an insignificant violation? Also, if they felt the need to have 3 teams look at it, that seams to suggest that it's a pretty subjective statement to say there is infringement.

That's the neat thing about ecosystems. They evolve.

I hear people talking about changing things back all the time, mostly when discussing societal ills, and it has always disturbed me. Change is something you can't reverse. You may like the past better than the present, but you can never go back.

Hijack the Oscars? I think not. Many Oscar winners stated their opposition to the war, and Moore did so eloquently.

I went and heard Moore speak a few weeks before the Oscars. He proudly stated his intentions of making a politically charged speech if awarded an Oscar, and received a standing ovation from a crowd of 6000+.

I believe that the people who really 'hijacked the Oscars' were the Oakland PD which kept the war protesters far away from the Oscars so the media wouldn't see them.

I've worked for small companies that have grown quickly and with good direction, becoming quite profitable, as well as for one huge company in particular that over managed and wasted stupendous amounts of money and eventually died.

One of the most glaring differences between the two environments is how well management reacted to change. Where management was burdened with lots of BS terms like TCO and EBITDA, they made bad decisions, and made them far too late in the game.

Business is cut-throat, but its not hard. I've run departments before, and I can tell you the best way to manage a company is almost completely a matter of diagnosing problems and adapting.

Sure, time is money, and your environment being down costs something, but observations about efficiency don't require stupid code words.

Those who decide to go create and repeat acronyms instead of paying attention are sooner or later left behind and should be.
