I wasn't saying thory is useless - far from it. My point was whilst a theory may predict behavour in a systm, the behavour may be caused by totally different reasons. Edison (I think) believed in 'electric fluid'. The theory was wrong, but it offered an explaination of how static electricity worked.

50 years from now high school physics students will laugh at us. "Ha, these idiots believed in all sorts of kooky stuff". This theory is just that, a theory.
What I'd like is another option in the moderation system: -1, disturbing. I often read @ -1 becuase many moderators abuse the system, but I'd like to do so without wading through the sick stuff sexually distrubed AC's post. Better yet, lower the threashold so posts can be modded to -5. -1 stuff can be slightly offtopic, -2 is for the *bsd is dying / troll FAQ posts, and -5 might be the graphic sicko stuff.
I've heard stories of people removing the magnetron and transformer arrangement from old microwaves, and firing it up. The reason it's a stupid idea is that it cooks you from the inside out. You don't feel it - no-one has heat sensing nerves on the inside of their bodies. By the time you realize something's wrong too much damage has been done.
It also leads to blindness. Don't fsck with microwaves unless you know what you're doing.
When IP law was first passed, the spirit was basically "Let the guy why invented something cool have a monopoly for a while. After a decade or so, give other people a chance." The problem is now copywrite is valid for such an insane length of time that there's little competition. End result: citizen loses (I hate the word 'consumer'). When did companies earn the priviledge to own copywrite?

Heh, I thought about doing this for my maths class. I could (really), but it's simply not worth the weeks (months?) of development time.
