How much of the program is GPL'ed? Windows Manager and all or just Linux kernel modifications? If it's all GPL'ed has someone made a free binary distro available for download? IANAL but if I understand the GPL correctly every owner has this right. I would be curious to try it if it was free, but I won't pay over $100 for a Linux distro that I probably won't use for very long.
"The goal of the Plex86 project is to create an extensible open source PC virtualization software program which will allow PC and workstation users to run multiple operating systems concurrently on the same machine."
Could the Open source community buy it? I know I'd donate. If every one who thinks its important keep donates something, would it be enough? We could put it under a decent license (BSD, MIT, GPL, etc) and donate it to GNU, MIT, or the EFF.
Are there any sites out there which take donations to buy closed source products and open source them?
Sounds pretty good but don't use XOR as a security measure. Openssl uses a one way hash of your passphrase along with an Initialization vector to encrypt your private key. I know you were just talking about in memory and not on disk but why not do it the right way?
Microsoft is about to release their own document management software SharePoint Portal Server (codename Tahoe). It's mainly known for its searching capabilities but its other features include integration into Microsoft Office, version control, and the ability to check in/out documents.
There should be a read-only login so groups can present their schedule to interested parties without giving them access to change the calendar and without requiring every member to have a personal login.
