You are probably thinking along the lines of Yojimbo and Murotho staring at each other for an interminable minute.. then draw the sword and fight is over in half a second. (I wont say who won the duel.. lest someone bitch about spilers.. :) )

Not going to work for lightsabers does it?
From what I have seen, lightsabers are used more as bludgeoning weapons than cutting weapons. And the fights are on par with that.

Well.. would people need a window repaired in 50 years will all go windowless because.. they are all not carpenters ?

There will always be geeks and programmers. So that other people can have easier life with computers.

PocketPC doesnt close the applications either. When you close an application using the close button on the top right, it just closes the window and keeps the app open.
May be that skewed your bench mark?

  8. better ecquipment would be nice on Psychology of a Programmer · · Score: 1

I dont really want a 14G showers. But faster PCs would be nice. One of the biggest concentration breakers is waiting for the machine to do something essential. Like waiting 5 minutes for a one line change to compile and link. Want your programmers to become more productive without even knowing it? Buy them better ecquipment. And make sure they dont spend the new found bandwidth playing games or reading slashdot.
