UI design is a pretty subjective thing though. Different people are going to like different aspects of different UIs for different reasons, so there's always going to be scope for variation here.
On the other hand, this does mean that they're not trying to stop people from using any of the useful peer2peer networks out there (you know, the ones people actually use).. so its all good.
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good things about the UK. It's just that some things look weird when you're on the outside.
Yeah, and on the inside too:) Don't even get me started on the states though.. at the end of the day everywhere has its problems. I just felt like ranting about mine here just happen to be broadband-related.
...I'd just be happy to see a situation where broadband is actually available in this area. At the moment, despite the fact that I'm happy to pay for it, there's no company which will actually supply it to this area. Bah, the UK can really suck sometimes:/
..How did ICANN actually come to be in the position they are in? How was this authority bestowed upon them? (Sorry, I don't know the full history of all this)
There are various jobs which you _can_ do without necessarily needing direct contact with people (web design, writing software etc), but which many employers would object to you doing on this basis. For this reason, self-employment might be the best option for you. Its certainly worth considering.

Granted poisining it can start to drive away the gimmie-gimmie crowd
To be fair though, that's pretty much the point, isn't it.
