What's to learn? You can teach yourself to be functional in it in no time.
Languages have gotten so boring, these days. I know, the languages are the same, it's just the fact that we've learned all the new concepts and the only thing really novel in most of these languages is syntax. Know some lisp, some fortran, some pascal, some java, some groovy, some ruby, and what's left? Anything new under the sun? Any real new concepts? (Not just ranting here -- anyone with some suggestions?)
We should be telling this guy to learn ARM assembler. At least that'll challenge him.
You're still wrong. Deficit spending is profitable when it is profitable. You take a loan at X percent, and you make X*2 percent on the investment. Most deficit spending doesn't make us money. Some does. You're still not thinking. Go try again.
This is a foolish economy. Spending is good when it causes changes which cost us less in the long run.
Thinking is not as hard as you imagine. Give it a try.

How do you get a book reviewed on slashdot? I'm serious. My book's languishing on Amazon. Great reviews on Amazon, but I've got no eyeballs (I mean this as a term of art -- I have not been blinded by spoon-wielding ninjas).
What printing company did you go with or did you find a real publisher? If you went with a publisher, are they doing a good job promoting your book?
"All I am saying is that based on the complaint it appears as if Google has an interesting case and one which they will lose simply because that's how the government works."
Companies lose court cases, generally, because the gov has unlimited funds and time, and they don't. But Google DOES have unlimited funds and time, and if they can get all gov departments to be forced to consider them, they might consider fighting this long and hard. They might not lose. They probably will, I gather, but maybe not.
Movies cannot use 3D in any way that makes it required for the movie, because rentals and DVD sales are still a big part of the revenue for a movie. People don't have 3D TVs yet, so the films in 3D can't really need to be seen in 3D.
All 3D stuff will be bland until film makers assume that the entire revenue chain can see it in 3D.
This is the difference between the purpose of a public education (ideas established in the later industrial revolution) which is designed to create good workers, and the western university system (approximately 1100 ad) which is designed to create great thinkers.
Modern society doesn't understand the university concept. They think universities are glorified worker-producing schools. Many universities get confused about it themselves.
If someone comes out of the industrial-revolution concept of school as a flat, bland and incapable person, mission accomplished.
If someone comes out of the university system as a flat, bland and incapable person, then there has been a colossal screw-up/waste of money somewhere.

Maybe there's more here. Maybe Google took actual, non-open Java code, but it looks a lot like the SCO suit to me. That Oracle is saying that using the same header files (AKA APIs) is infringement. We all know that to make a work-alike system, the strings in the header files (APIs) need to be the same. They really look the same, even if you create them from scratch by following the published specs.
Researchers have found a gene which, when lacking in humans, leads them to be far more likely to fall into conservatism.
People without the novelty-seeking gene variant would be less interested in learning about their friends' points of view. As a consequence, people with this genetic predisposition may be more conservative than average.
a. The companies doing them are incompetent, and this is allowed because the people buying the machines are incompetent.
b. The companies doing them are trying to maximize profit, which is normal for a profit-oriented company, and an indicator that we should be buying these from a not-for-profit entity.
c. Our populace in under-educated on this, as on many things.
Seems like the name Reid is in the same position on the screen as the Spanish checkbox, and Sharron Angle's name is in the same position as the English checkbox.
Your finger lingers, and voila!
Bad design on several levels. Do people still use the term debounce (as in keyboards) on touch screens?
This stuff needs to be simple and rock solid. Instead it's (as we've seen with Deibold and Sequoia) complex and done badly.
It's amazing what bribes, free lunches and laziness can get done.

Can we now please do this in America?
Yes, I know it sets a bad precedent, but it's friggin' FACEBOOK!
'Of course I know how important it is,' she said, 'I'm the Security Minister.'
So she knows it's completely unimportant.

If Apple is paying to find bugs so they get fixed, well way to go Apple!
Personally, I suspect it's more likely that Coverity wanted some press.
But really, it'd be great to have Apple funding this stuff.

If it gets close or even hits the speed of handwriting, that's nice. But we type, in part, because typing is faster than hand-writing.
This is not going to be as fast as a keyboard.

Lots of time.
What's a lookgran product?
I will bet anyone an imaginary nickel that he's there for just about exactly one year.

Yes, that works, too.
Or you could watch the TV-Land equivalent the book people have. What's it called...? Oh, yeah... other books.
But no, turning to the TV because books suck these days seems like a fine idea. Go for it.

They lost mine on the pilot of BSG. Everything that was wrong with modern television was right there, encapsulated.
I think it might have been an OK series if they'd had talented writers and a tenth the budget.
Yes, he lacks a gene.
I don't think it's that bad, but certainly ORACLE becomes a liability -- don't use anything they control.

This seems like Darl's work, all over again.
Let's read that again, so that it's more clear.

People without the novelty-seeking gene variant would be less interested in learning about their friends' points of view. As a consequence, people with this genetic predisposition may be more conservative than average.

b. The companies doing them are trying to maximize profit, which is normal for a profit-oriented company, and an indicator that we should be buying these from a not-for-profit entity.
