Our company disposes of old technology from companys accross the United States. and for a couple of hundred dollars you can get a used laptop with no os installed for next to nothing. then add the features you would like.We don't offer any os so we do not pay microsoft.All data is wiped off the systems.(clean slate). I have loaded linux redhat on a 133mhz laptop with 64m of ram and 3g hd. and it works just fine.So if you are willing to configure the system your self. look on e-bay or other auction sites. Our site product changes daily. (I will not leave the site address or name.....I don't beleive in using a forum like this for promotion of the company i work for...if you are interested e-mail me and i will give you the information.) I enjoy this site and don't want to open a pandora's box of company promotions....that would suck.I learn alot of new information every day from this site.
The problem with these caps. is the manfacture is nickel and diming the cost of production of the board they will put a cap that is within 10% of the highest volatge on the circuit instead of 20 or 30% and some as low as 3%. (RCA) I have repaired electronics for 25 years and eletrolyitic caps are the notorious culpurits in all failures no only is the voltage rating an issue its also the heat. if the manfacturer can get away with putting in a cap that costs.05 instead of.10 then they will put in the.05 part and deal with the people that complain. RCA did this with there tvs' they had a bad design and knew it but kept pumping them out the problems didnt show up until the unit was out of manfacturer warranty. but you get the idea here the manfacturer will scimp on the parts to help with the profit and deal with the squeeky wheels down the road.
Be careful when you try to replace those caps. too much heat and you could damage the board and from the looks of the board it may be a 4 layer board and if that is the case it could ge tricky with out a soldering machine designed for the 4 layer boards.
How about getting the software companys from writing the viruses....I truly think that alot of the viruses are written and then a fix is written and shelved.....to be released later to get rid of the virus to sell more software.......ya think?
Hey Our Company has enough old mac's to build a full desk. and chair if you want. about 100+. That is about all they are good for. Until they meet the dreaded SHREDDER......:) I'll enjoy throwing them into it.
Here is something else. A Consumer electronic Manfacturer is working on bio-feedback controled Devices. One is a cd player that senses your mood and plays the music according to you mood. and a dvd player that senses if your getting bored with a program and then fast forwards to a more intresting part. the research is still going on you have to be wired to the device. but they are working on sensing without wires???? This could get scary.
Think about this if it can build a radio what is to stop it from repairing it's self......then it could determine that the human race....sorry to many movies. Terminator,Matrix. etc.
