  1. Re:Apple Chips on IBM PowerPC 970 Architecture · · Score: 1

I don't know; I read an article somewhere that on Photoshop tests, the latest Mac processor was ~30% slower than a Intel P4 from a year and a half ago. Now, mind you there are obviously other mitigating factors, such as memory speed, algorithmic optimization, etc... But for all intents and purposes, the Intel is faster by a considerable margin at computationally intensive tasks.

"...and I have gone as far as gaining some of the tools needed to crack EFII..." What I don't understand is why some people think cracking games is wrong or illegal or something. Let me state unequivocally that using a crack on a game is neither illegal nor unethical, if and only if you legally own the game. It's your right to be able to use software you paid for; Now, I'm not so sure that making a crack and posting it on the net for all the pirates is morally right, but as for killing Safedisc so your game works, go for it.

He's not trying to lock it down so it's completely secure, he's just trying to make it relatively idiot-proof. They should be able to get in and change settings if they want, it just needs to be correctly configured initally, so people don't have to edit settings.

  4. A high quality software calculator on Seeking a Simple Programmer's Calculator? · · Score: 1

Calc98 is a very good calculator for Windows 9x/NT and Pocket PC 2000/2002. It does dec/hex/oct/binary conversions, and does logic operations. I don't know if it does shift, but it wouldn't suprise me. And it has practically every constant known to man, including a periodic table, and does unit conversions for practically anything (Ever want to know the weight of Jupiter in Pennyweights? 1.22237x10^30) I recommend it for any engineering student, or for programming.
