Slashdot refuses to let my other account post anymore FUCK BETAs today. So I logged into this account I created 10+ years ago (May 08, 2003 was my last post with it).
Lilly Pad wireless network is too grass root for anyone who is corporate or Governemnt. It makes them uncomfortable. They are finally reigning this internet into control, and then another one springs up? HA!! They're scared.
It is decentralized though. But the frequency can too easily be disrupted. And thats not very secure..
But also this: If a hacker's probe reveals an interesting security method, wouldn't that just make that hacker more interseted in defeating it; for the challenge, and fame?
Democracy in America never existed.
America's capitalistic democracy is just another form of Feudalism, where the majority of the wealth, freedom, and voice, will pass from the privelidged to their children.
so let us dream of the future and not on the fallacies of the past.
In a broader way i see some similarities. The opensource community are working on a business model that challenges traditional economic models. A model that embraces new technologies. Hollywood may have to do the same, (adapt or die) bring themselves into this emergent mode of economics.
