7 DVD's, 24 Episodes, plus dozens of commercials/previews/'insiders' from FX channel. Best $105 (from Best Buy) I have spent recently.
Even if it ends this season, I look forward to owning the next 6 seasons on DVD also. Now, if only Law and Order, Homicide and The Simpsons would release THEIR episodes this way...I would never leave the house again.

Mmm...or perhaps we can ask Jeff about why Mozilla and Netscape aren't html 4.0 compliant also. Style sheets are one of the most useful things available today, but, they are unusable in major websites, thanks to Netscape's shitty rendering of them. Too bad Opera is so damned weird. Dump the extra crap Opera, and give us that small, fast, compliant browser...
Btw, if you folks haven't seen IE for the Mac, you are really missing out. It is absolutely the best browser available.

Wow. What a bunch of hypocrites the/. crew is turning into on this issue...I mean, if you agree with Jon Katz, doesn't that automatically worry you ? Let's start. Metallica and their record company spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to create, produce and distribute music. People steal that music, and Metallica is lambasted for protecting it's rights... Slashdot.org, a website, with no physical product, and no actual 'original thoughts' of it's own, compiles a buttload of comments that were freely posted by its readers, and creates the infamous 'Hellmouth' book. And you guys go fucking nuts, wanting recognition and compensation. So, let's clarify...your pithy comments are worth more, and should be protected more, than the creation and physical product of someone else?
You really need to think this through folks. Napster has one usage, and one usage only. What would happen if someone was standing in your neighborhood selling 'alarm de-activators' and crowbars, and pointing people toward your house, politely providing a list of what valuables you own? You would have his ass in jail, or maybe just beat said ass... Sigh. We are all (mostly) adults, and we know right from wrong. It's fun to be naughty, but it's naive to become upset when you get caught. As RMS once said "If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime"...//end fake quote//
Ya know...I was going to post this as an AC, but, I have the courage to post, so, you shold have the courage to look deep, and eek out the truth within yourselves...

I TOTALLY agree. It's one thing to abbreviate, and yet another to parody, but, in stories like this, there is no excuse for this type of grammar. Slashdot is propagating the 'cool script kiddies' talk, in order to...well. God only knows why... This has been a peeve of mine for a LONG time. The use of 'z' instead of 's', the never-ending pipes instead of 'i'. Give us a break Slashdot. We get enough trash from the trolls.

Bowie, Just wanted to let you know that I totally agree with your comments, and would like to add that, if more parents would keep their kids in their own neighborhoods, within earshot, and paid attention to them and their friends, that things would be alot better. Letting kids go wild at a mall every weekend is not cool. Some of the best times of my life were during my preteen years, in the late 70's, going to neighborhood barbeques and weekly movies, played in a church parking lot. Childhood used to be a time of great adventure, and of fun and memories. Now, it's Britney Spears and Snoop Dog. Kids these days aren't kids. They are miniature adults, having to deal with adult situations and problems earlier and earlier. Every day, I have to listen to my 11 and 4 year old kids singing stuff that would have earned me an ass whipping 15 years ago. It's so frustrating trying to tell them WHY it's not ok to sing it/watch it,etc., when all of their little friends do. Sigh. I'm old.
Excuse my typos, it's late...

You don't sue Walmart for selling me the duffel bag that I stuffed the cash into.
I want to comment on that line... The bags Wal-Mart sells for money stuffing are far superior to any other duffle bags I have used. Frequently, when the dye packs explode, lesser bags become saturated, and stain the floors of my Honda. In addition, it is perfect for storing the fingers that I have to chop off of hostages. It's time for Wal-Mart to be recognized for its high quality bank robbing tools.

I am a recent telecomutee, now working for a firm with offices in Boston and LA, while I live in rural Georgia. I have to say that most of the comments I see are dead on. The problems I am experiencing are guilt over not being constantly 'on the clock', and the uncertainty that I am 'missing' something that the people in the offices are doing. There is a small amount of boredom also, as even SlashDotting becomes a distraction I must force myself to avoid (not too successfully). In closing, I would just like to say that, this type of article is SlashDot at its best. This is good, informative stuff, with not alot of noise. Just a frank discussion about how to cope with a not so common situation. Kudos Guys!
PS: Does anyone here have kids, and attempt to home school them? Does anyone have any good resources on this subject? TIA.

No, I think the real issue is that a 17 year old genius, who happens to be a female, was referred to as a slut, by someone claiming to represent a large ISP in the United States. People sometimes go to JAIL over things like that, and people definitely lose their jobs. If this really was the work of your 'friend', you should evaluate your peers. Have a nice day.
