All this weekend, I have been unfortunate enough to see many pictures of Don Knotts and ulcerated anal cavities (seperated at birth?), that I have been trying to figure out a way to avoid accidentally (read:not paying attention to the URLin the status bar) viewing these 2 atrocities.

Well, here's my suggestion. Don't allow AC to post HTML. Surely that couldn't be THAT hard to implement...and we wouldn't be subjected to the kind of filth we have seen this past weekend (some would say *months* ).

I like to view at -1. I frequently like the comments that get blurbled over at a higher setting, but, man oh man.

Office is just software. No one is forced to use it. This statement you have made is akin to saying that "English is a monopoly in the business world. It is absolutely necessary to be able to speak, read and write in its' closed format"

Most decent Office suites can 'open/save/save as' MS-Office compatible files. The keyword here is DECENT. Better software means better sales/usage.

  4. Re:Protecting the children? on "I Would Strongly Advocate Full Disclosure" · · Score: 1

Heya. I don't want to get involved in a flame war here, but I have to say this...

When people try to 'protect' children from sexual images, innuendo and violent and usually unsavory acts, it isn't because of the 'south park/warped my fragile little mind' thing.

At least in my case, I simply can't stand the thought that my 4 year old will not have the innocence she deserves. Children used to have a period of time when they could BE CHILDREN. Now, every 11 year old (and, yes, my 4 year old also) knows who Britney Spears is, and openly acknowledges she has 'big boobs' and is 'slutty'. Well, guess what, I DO NOT WANT my kids to have to think like that, but, with the amazing reach of the Internet, television and even public schools, even a watchful parent can't shield their children from all the crap out there.

Now, to clarify my rant, I thoroughly enjoy South Park, Austin powers, and the occasional 'adult picture', but, hey, I'm 30 years old.

Let's just accept that kids shouldn't have to be 'mini-grown-ups'. When a child reaches the age where they support themselves, and behave like adults, and are physically at that point also, then they can see and do what they want. But, why make it easy for kids to be corrupted, and robbed of their childhood?

Do you folks remember being a child? Do you recall seeing pictures of women giving oral sex to a horse when you were 11 years old? Do you recall saying 'give it to me baby', or 'I'm a sexy bitch' at age 8?

It doesn't inhibit you at all. It simply protects the innocence of children.

    How long will I last?
    Not too long my friends.
I am STEALING. I am stealing their copyrighted information, and displaying it to their intended audience without their permission. And that, like it or not, is wrong.

These television stations have paid an enormous amount of money for these programs, these station identifiers and the syndication rights to other broadcasts. They have to recoup these costs by advertising, and being able to PROVE to their advertisers that the viewer saw the advertisement on THAT station. This incident is taking away their way of life, and is wrong.

    Now, my prediction:
icravetv.com will be bought out by either:
    AOL
    Real
    Microsoft,
