  1. Re:Top-secret information? on Purchase Your Personal Gene Map · · Score: 0

To keep insurance companies from discriminating based on your genes, we would need a consumer protection law that would mandate that health insurance providers must provide health insurance at an equal cost to all persons of a giving age and gender.

Even better, add some conditions. For example, if your genes indicate you have a higher risk of cancer, you must go in for regular exams (covered under the insurance plan, of course) and abstain from smoking in order to qualify for those equal rates.

Blocking e-mail by sender would work if there were a way to positiviely identify the sender of each and every e-mail message, and compare the sender with other e-mails. This is impossible in SMTP and, IMHO, one of SMTP's greatest weaknesses.

You can organize anything you want (including plots) into any number of categories, and then choose a level (top level, 2nd level, etc.) to compare them against.

It's all about finding order in chaos. It's as old as time itself. The trick is finding new variations that haven't been used before.

After all, there are only two types of people in this world: those who tend to categorize things and those who don't.

  5. Re:CO2 future fuel... on Locking CO2 Away For Good · · Score: 0

Compressing CO2 for later use as an "energy source" doesn't solve the problem of excess CO2 in the atmosphere. Well, it does, but only (very) temporarily.

In addition, it's almost certainly much more efficient to break down CO2 molecules and combine them with water to form propane (or any other -ane). But for that matter, it's probably even more efficient to just break down water and store the Hydrogen for use as a fuel.

    CO2 just isn't very useful.

...because? I thought we're supposed to say Windows sucks? I'm so confused! Seriously, though, any victory for Linux is a victory for BSD (and vice-versa). Time for the two camps to learn to play well together.
