Oh sure, the time when every "h4x0r" can sniff packets through a common US power outlet indeed has come, as the time that any h4x0r can phuck my windows box
*nods* Replying to a "IN SOVIET RUSSIA" joke is somehow being any better? The grandparent should get a life and just simply not reply, because it is obvious that you wont get through to them.
An itanium based platform can produce a listing of files!!!!
Well, maybe if they make a decent network device driver for it, it could serve as an index of shared files we are all crazy about (my personal mp3 fetishes are rare Green Day mp3s, and obscure prank phone calls).
OK, just to all the other/.ers that might read, I KNOW YOU'RE BULLSHITTING ME. You're most likely some script kiddie out in the middle of nowhere posting on/. because you think its cool. Here's why I know you're bullshitting me. You said in the beginning of your post "I had my server running 100% for 46 days and only rebooted because I was trying out some new SMTP (not MS) software which turned out to be complete and utter crap and a wasted reboot." and then later wrote "On average I do a reboot once a month for software updates or whatever but never because I have to."If you stick to a monthly schedule, how can you have a 46 day run (with crappy software like that, but that's besides the point)? YOU are not worth your salt, any way you take that lie.
Um... you've been gravely misinformed. Microsoft DOESN'T work fine. Really. As a netadmin/webmaster myself, I shouldn't have to worry about BSODs, frozen boxes, vulnerabilities and the like. With M$, I would have to worry about that all the time, rather than when a security patch is out (you know, the ones that don't replace your config when you implement them?). The truth of the matter is, I NEED APACHE.
I think if we do have a Windows based on Linux, it will be something like the OS X setup, which would be the underlying core is open source, but the GUI (and others not in the "core" of things) would be closed source. Mark my words, it will be this way if M$ does it. However, I sincerely doubt that M$ will do it.
1. You may think yourself important, but you are a loser if you are only claiming this on/.
2. Is it also free speech if you yell fire in a crowded theatre?
3. There is such a thing as a vibrating ring, instead of an audible one (so only YOU know someone else is calling). Then you can step out for a minute to take the call.
4. DON'T YOU DARE USE MY SAVIOR AS AMMUNITION IN A/. TROLL.
5. We've banned use of explosives in public, but should we just deal with them?
You sir, are too uneducated to make a good post
Yeah, especially the way he acted when the whole florida thing was going on. The parody of the political sign "Gore-Lieberman" which read "Sore-Loserman" said it all.
I concur with the parent. Besides, there are a lot of species we (as humans) can get to due to physical location (i.e., the amazon, deep under the ocean, up CmdrTaco's ass, small isolated and uncharted islands in the middle of the ocean, etc.). This number is unobtainable and has no real practical use.
How can a post be moderated "redundant" when it is the first post? I think this is a damn good first post, since it is not along the lines of a beowulf cluster of "IN SOVIET RUSSIA" jokes. Do mot moderate while drunk.

Excuse me, but as one of many who have common sense, I know that Al Gore didn't invent the internet. You see, you wouldn't get credit for something you "recognized the importance of." Al Gore has also tried to take credit for many other things that have contributed to the buildup (and downfall) of society. Of course, anybody who isn't trying to troll on/. knows that.
Well, considering some of the craziest suits were the ones that were ruled in favor of the plaintiff, and that whenever you're an entity like the MPAA (this is not a troll, I'm trying to make a point, not start an argument), you tend to win your cases. So, I'd say they have a 60-40 chance of winning.
How ironic that you fail it yourself?

On a related note, who would want to visit goatse.cx anyway?

Are we supposed to be impressed with an average post that commonly downplays whatever article is being discussed?

No, but I'll bet $20 that feature is soon to come. God, I HATE THAT SONG. I'm glad someone else does as well.
"News for nerds. Stuff that matters."
...an open source programmer who uses concepts that originate from outside of the whole world of programming/hacking/fragging.
A secret that cannot be readily changed should be regarded as a vulnerability.

...the time is "This program has performed an illegal operation"
But it wont be as funny as that time he found a pregnant Star Wars fan.

/me agrees.
I agree with the parent post. There are laws that make pirating illegal, but certainly there are none that try to stop pirating. Any questions?
