Read this: The Document Object Model (DOM) for SVG, which includes the full XML DOM, allows for straightforward and efficient vector graphics animation via scripting.
That's like saying you can make animations with HTML just because you can access HTML tags through the DOM and script them.
Noone asks you to switch at once to ogg vorbis completely and abandon mp3. This is why ogg only players would not be helpful - we need compatible players.
This PL = 1000 thing is actually rather bad for the P2P network as a whole. If noone sees the need to share files fewer people will share files (specially in the light of recent RIAA threats)
Actually your's is a rather bad theory. Because the identity is not your Kazaa nickname (which you can change anyway to anything you want) or anything like that - but it is your IP address. Without fundamental changes to the way FastTrack works (think rewrite in Freenet direction) it won't be possible to hide your identity.
It is optional. You can find the option in Options => Kazaa K++ Options => K++ Options => User's [sic!] can't get a list of all your shared files checkbox.
HTH!
DVDs have no clear standards at this point. I think I remember someone saying that DVD-RW is the one standard reaching the critical mass market, but is it *there* yet?
Well, for gods sake go to the shop and buy a DVD-RW drive to support this evolving standard. Unless people buy one or another nothing is gonna get the standard. YOU, the customer, decide.
Because we don't encourage copyright violations. We just want our p2p networks staying alive so we can continue sharing Debian ISO images, free pr0n, self-written stories and our photos from grandma's last birthday party, right?
Around PageMaker version 6.5 Adobe planned to more or less abandon PageMaker in favor of InDesign.
But some time ago they seem to have changed their mind and released PageMaker 7.0. They're trying to position InDesign a bit more in the professional area while PageMaker should satisfy semi-pro.
..not to live in the USA. And that's not anti-US. It simply means that some parts of the US' judicial system don't fit together with my point of view which are very important to me. Therefor I am glad to live in a country which judicial system is more compatible with mine.
In my opinion that's just a matter of definition. If it manages the core tasks of running the machine it's a CPU - i.e. a central PU - and not just a GPU since it handles more than the graphics.
That is as soon as there is no CPU and the GPU handles its tasks it becomes a CPU by definition!
Do they have to add support for every single application which should be able to run with Crossover or does it simply mean it's guaranteed these applications will run with crossover?
When I read the article I was put off a bit by the following part:..fully support digital rights management technology... Does anyone of you guys know more about this DivX DRM technology? It does not sound like the player will be able to circumvent this technology but more like it will abide by the set restrictions.
Read the fucking article. I cite: pass the rigorous certification process developed by the DivXNetworks team of video engineers. I hope this clarifies the situation for you a little bit.
The only time you can take a work and assign copyright to yourself is if that work is in the Public Domain, which of course means that it has no copyright at all.
Which is not even possible in some countries of the world (think Europore for example).
Because of the lower latency. All the logging in/handshaking stuff is not needed. You just tell the server "gimme file" and you get it. No "hello, I am like anonymous and my pwd is foo@foo.foo"..;-)
I guess that's not what s/he wants. It sounds like anonymous downloading of publicy available files - whatfor do we need any encryption then? There are no passwords to secure, no sensitive data to secure. You'd get only hassles from MSIE users who never heard about sftp..
..for telling me whether this is a good or a bad thing! If slashdot wouldn't tell me which things are good and which are bad I'd have to go through life completely disoriented!

SVG in combination is more like Flash, not just SVG. SVG does not have any animation capabilities.

At least the table of contents is completely finished already!

What about reverse engineering? If hordes of *nix programmers can do it why can't Winzip do it? Legal issues? ...?
Thanks for any insight!
TIFF is far away from dead. In the desktop publishing area it is a quite widely used file format.

..can't add this simple trailing / to an URL like this one. Bugger. ;)
The OpenBSD guys had this long ago! ;)

That might be true but still the first link is useless as well - since it is slashdotted already. Bad luck, eh?
