Did you read even the slashdot story? NTL has said that they will only be persuing persistent offenders - I hope this clears up the fog in your brain a bit;-)
Cheers!
Where and when will I - a normal consumer - be able to notice all those fantastic advances, like pixie dust, nickel filaments etc.? Sure, I notice a nice increase in storage capacity, a decrease in cost (and a warranty decrease;) - but nowhere I can see fantastic, large changes!
Uhm no. Pipelining is often made parallel. Just look at http - serial is keep-alive. parallel is pipelining.
To quote RFC 2068: Pipelining allows a client to make multiple requests without waiting for each response, allowing a single TCP connection to be used much more efficiently, with much lower elapsed time. (for more details see RFC 2068, 8.1.2.2)
Serial is done using the Connection: keep-alive header.
That's called pipelining, right? We already have this in various protocol, including HTTP which is used quite frequently for various web services (think SOAP)
Fetch everything from ibiblio.org and some other nice large mirrors. (SuSE used to have a CD set with some mirrors, perhaps sometime like this still exists) - i.e. fetch every Linux distribution. Software. Sources and binaries, for every platform....
But please don't just download the whole ibiblio.org with a fat pipe - please ask the ftpmaster before doing it, s/he'll appreciate it!
This slashdot story is written rather poorly. For example you could have explained why it is a bad thing for computer owners. Only the statement alone looks a bit too little.
uhm. The first comment for the article you're mentioned says exactly the same. Sorry, but everyone who didn't notice it was a fake is just plain stupid.
And all of this harms our CHILDREN! The POOR CHILDREN of hillary rosen, and the POOR CHILDREN of other hollywood start! Oh my god, save those CHILDREN from the evil communists!
..because those vents aren't made for blowing throw a pipe which is some feet long. They just can't. So you'll have to get stronger (and louder!) vents.
Moreover I have to wonder where the air is going to go. Not that walls are completely airtight but they aren't exactly open either..
And thanks for all the high-quality books you provided throughout these 25 years and hopefully will continue to provide for a long time to come!:) They helped me solving a lot of problems! CHEERS!:-)
Show me one single flight simulator which is able to use data this accurate. For flight simulators it would be a new features to show the statue of liberty as seen by a fly.

So, were these modules really removed from CPAN or did the CPAN admin withstand the pressure?
Thank you for the M-Audio tip, they seem to manufacture quite interesting products. I'll look into them.
Thanks!
Same with the characteristic "Watt" itself. Root Mean Square? Peak value? ...? - not really comparable.
btw, thank you for the good comment.
Can you recommend me any good soundcards? They don't really have to be for audiophiles, just very good consumer.. i.e. they should be affordable :-)
:-)
Thank you!
Just for your information: Many of those p2p applications support SOCKS 4 + 5 proxies. (Morpheus/Kazaa, WinMX, AG did..)

Bruce Schneier would be an excellent choice. We should make some movement (like the one "Steve Jobs for President", but more successful;-)

By doing so you support what you criticize: So if your technology can't win on price and performance, break out the lawyers and sue everyone.
If you are really against this then continue using what's best suited for your needs.
Cheers everyone.
Be careful with upgrading to 2.0.44 for some people report big problems with the new version. See this and this thread on google groups for reference.
Cheers!

Haha! Microsoft will upgrade you - didn't you grant them access to your machine by clicking the "I Agree" button at your last EULA session?
Gecko is small and fast - just mozilla is a bit bloated.
The typical assembler line is way shorter than the typical line of a highlevel language. ;-)

..who's missing the http:// in the link? - shame on the slashdot story submittors and editors!

Thank you.
