Super Mario 2...later 80's....the landscape of arcades had changed drastically by that time.
Around 1983 there was a crash of home video game systems which didn't pick up until 1985/1986 with the NES system. At school people were playing the Zork games we copied from 5 1/4" floppy disks by using a hole puncher to punch a half whole in a strategically placed section of the disk perimeter to double side it (by flipping it over) on the Apple IIe. There were no strategy guides, internet to look up 'how to's', you just went out and played! Awesome!!
For me being 35 I actually REMEMBER game arcades..these were actual places were people would go to hang and play. Here in Orlando, Fl. was Game Street USA and Stacy's...you walk in, give your dollar, and get 8 tokens to play...and, every game was ONLY 1 quarter. Awesome stuff! The lights would be turned down low, the bass response in the wood stand up cabinets would move you shirt (or Member's Only Jacket), and often you could eat there. Game Street had the best sub shop called Gabriel's next to it; Stacy's was an ice cream parlor that you walked down into a sunken area to play. No windows, AC blasting, and the radio playing (usually Journey, Michael Jackson, anything from Casy Kasem's 'American Top 40'). And, females were there; it wasn't just for geeks. For retro purposes there was a chip (Votrax?) that had very limited mono sayings in there that made Wizard of Wor kick ass. HEE HEE HO HO HA HA!! You never felt rushed, each person had his/her game, usually you'd take turns watching each other play (and learn the patterns), and if you were trying to get the next game you'd simply put your token near the controls and people always honored it.
My list for nostalgia purposes (Circa 1981-1984)would be:
Wizard of Wor (with a partner; the level with no walls!)
Gorf (goofy rip off trigger game)
Tron (light cycle patterns!)
Robotron (Hard to play for most; 2 joysticks, completely spastic)
Galaga
Jungle Hunt- play just once, like Dig Dug
Gauntlet (Elf shot the food! UUUGGGGHHHH !! Warrior is now 'IT!' )
Dragon's Lair (First 0.50 cent game ever to my knowledge..Chucky Cheese had a special opening party with the game on a big screen; line went out the door..incredible for it's time...It was this or John McEnroe's autograph; he was sick or something the next day when I went:( , just after he stopped using wooden tennis racquets.
Wow, what a time period!
This is the right idea. Using the IRS numbers for 2003, the top 1% of wage earners pay ~35% and the top 50% pay ~95% of all taxes. POOR PEOPLE DON'T PAY TAXES. I've taught high school, worked briefly for a major financial company, done the 70 hours a work week, and tired of all the whining by liberal people who think they can spend other people's money. Poor people may pay a higher % of their income in taxes, HOWEVER, rich people pay a more total monetary amount. Don't forget, poor households get substantial benifits such as welfare,(which i'm paying, they are not), tuition assistance,(which i'm paying, they are not), earned income tax credit (a bonus for babymaking), and so on. I grew up technically in poverty and still can make it like most here in the U.S.
Who works minimum wage jobs? Teenagers. If anyone thinks a job is too 'beneath' them that's their fault. Overall a lack of accountability for themselves. It's not as if we as citizens can get a buy out from SS (which would be a major boost to the economy) since it's a welfare program and as such will never go away. If rich people didn't spend money there would not be jobs. There is a creation of a 'value for value' transaction which is the basis of ecomonics here in the U.S. (minus taxes, the so called 'trade deficit', and wage/price controls). Until you financially support your entire life with what you make I don't see how you can be called a 'productive' member of society. If someone wants to be a bum, that's cool, just trying bumming off the people who have money instead of whining or demanding it, saying it's 'unfair'. That's B.S.

Hopefully, you actually found a job and accepted it first before resigning! My HR experiences taught me that they are obstacles for doing your job and view you as someone who makes a LOT more $$$ then they ever will. So, they only feel power at the beginning and end of the job cycle where they have influence over you. It's just human nature. Make the most of it and go ask the cute secretary out on your last day:)
Credit scores are NOT accurate! The 3 agencies that derive a score all vary due to some different factors and also scoring of these factors. Most, if not all, reports contain errors that are NOT the consumer's fault; usually it's those shady financial practices by companies, esp. the insurance ones. For example, by law here in FL. H.Ins. co's can wait up to 1 YEAR before actually submitting a bill yet within a week they will bill you for everything they can think of!! So, your trip to the doctor for 1 x ray gives you several different bills, several different files, and several different accounts that can be "missed" by the money collectors. You pay, they collect the interest in say short term bonds (like all those REBATE scams at major manufacturers), and if you're really lucky, you might get a check at the end of the year for overpaying; don't count on it. I know serveral different people in these fields and it's amazing what nonsense these reports may be. Did you know that checking your credit rating actually makes your score WORSE? Most people don't. I personally ask to see in writing (as with everything) as to how this may be considered 'company policy' and also ask what do they use my SSN for when filling out ppw. Most say to easily identify you, I say it's not necessary and have yet to be refused. Companies use these tactics as a quantifiable tool to see how much they can milk the customer for. Most US people are living paycheck to paycheck, and that's exactly how Govt. and others love it so you pay taxes. Consider the sheer abscense of solid financial education; it doesn't exist. As a high school teacher, i'm disgusted about how students are to to live as a wage slave/credit slave. As with all things, do what's best for you and save up that SCREW YOU $$ fund.
Heinlein has to be up there as a major componet of the "best" sci-fi is how science interacts with our way of living. The Science must be necessary however the human part of life is what makes his writing some of the best. Curiously, he seems to be one of the only sci-fi writers that actually started off quite conservative and went more liberal as he aged. His first works (Farmer in the Sky) eventually turn into human introspection later on (Time Enough for Love).
