I do live in NC, and I'm going to try and find time to go out there. Unfortunately, I leave for Floriday on Sunday, for a 3 month gig in Ft. Lauderdale. So a trip to Transylvania will have to wait until at least April. Bummer.:-(
The Sunny Point MOTSU just outside Southport, NC is supposedly the largest military ammunition / munitions depot on the East Coast. I'm sure that's a high priority enemy target.. and if it gets hit, the enemy gets bonus damange because the CP&L Brunswick Nuclear Plant sit's right beside it. Munition depot goes *BOOM*, Nuclear Power Plant go "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM" big-time.
Man, am I ever glad I moved out of Brunswick County.
A lot. Wilmington, NC is home to at least one major movie studio, maybe more. And at least one semi-major TV series (Dawson's Creek, I believe) is filmed in Wilmington.
Granted, Wilmington is a long way from Transylvania County, but since you asked....
Maybe he'll go to his 20th reunion, and they'll see his Rolex Hyperion. Hahahahahahahahaha."
And what's wrong with that? I am SO looking forward to my 10 year reunion... so I can go rub the fact that I make more money thatn 98% of my senior class into all their faces.
I can't quite afford a Rolex yet, but I intend to be able to by the time of my 20 year reunion... and I intend to rub that in all their faces also...

Sorry to bust your bubble, but there is practicallly NO opportunity for user input doing the install I described above. You install NT base, slap on a few stock upgrades and patches, and it usually works.
And just to illustrate for you how messed up Microsoft is, do this little experiment sometime. Download Comcheck from M$'s site, and run a check on your MDAC version. See how many of the DLL's come back as errors due to being the wrong version ( particularly older than expected ) then, re-install the MDAC level of your choice. Say, 2.5. Now, run Comcheck again. Unless you are God, or incredily lucky, I'll guarantee you that you will STILL have DLL mismatches (including ones that report older than expected ).
This would seem to fly in the face of logic, now wouldn't it? Only in Microsoft's universe....
You're a fucking idiot if you believe that. Explain to me how you can fuck up installing the base OS, a service pack, and MDAC upgrade and a few applications?
Why don't you just keep your mouth shut if you don't have anything intelligent to say?
It is not uncommon to do a base NT install, and have the machine going flaky before you're even done. A recent example.. I was rebuilding my machine at work.. installed NT server 4.0, installed SP 3, installed IE 4, installed software ( visual studio, office, etc. ) installed MDAC 2.5, etc.. and at some point before I was done, my entire desktop had become an "unsecure internet zone" and I couldn't even open a program without getting the "This page may cotain unsafe ActiveX controls.. blah blah blah" message.
Now, if I can't even install the OS and it's own requisite upgrades, and some software by the same company, without it going casters up, how the f*ck can they call that stable?

Screw Ed. Emacs is the best editor!!!
They should be spending their money creating a new Doctor Who television series, not wasting it on this crap.
When the BBC stopped Dr. Who, they became just a caricature of their selves.
Right, and also don't forget "I Know What You Did Last Summer" which was filmed in Southport, NC.

Heheh. Have you heard those radio commercial for the Commercial Fisherman's Association or something like that?
"North Carolina: First in Freedom, First in Flight, now... First in Fish!"
Gimme a break.. that's what *I* want my state to be known for. First in Fish.
I like "First in large mysterious government complexes deep in the Great Smokey Mountains" better...

Excuse me, but A. that's irrelevant to the point that NT is a piece of shit, and B. I *was* installing Server.
It's not *MY* fault if M$ doesn't know enough to build a stable OS, either.
You're a fucking idiot if you believe that. Explain to me how you can fuck up installing the base OS, a service pack, and MDAC upgrade and a few applications? Why don't you just keep your mouth shut if you don't have anything intelligent to say?

OS/2 would still count as "commercial quality", which still refutes the M$ claim...
Well done documentation??? From Microsoft??????? Are you freakin' crazy? The M$ documentation I've seen sucks. MSDN in particular is fuckin' pathetic.
I mean, there are pages with a title, and no content or links. Example code in the MSDN is sparse, and not usually very illustrative.
Cripes, Turbo C++ 3.0 for Borland had better online documentation than Visual Studio 6.0.
For that matter, the Sun Java documentation is clearly better than MSDN could ever hope to be.

No way. AMD has been leading Intel in the price / performance ration ever since the 386DX/40. Now, they lead in raw performance as well.
Personally, I'll never go back to Intel, unless AMD slips badly.
