When I was in middle school I studied with Aikido guys who traced their lineage back to Koichi Tohei. Those guys were the totally hippie peace and harmony guys. The post-WWII styles of Aikido reflect the spiritual awakening Ueshiba had during the war.
The pre-WWII styles of Aikido were "rougher" but any Japanese art that pays attention to bushido should be teaching the morality of using these arts for other than defense. Unfortunately too many folks these days seem to think morality doesn't exist anymore.
Maybe there are just some bad dojos where you are at. If my sensei heard about any of his students doing shit like that he would kick them out of the school, but we are a very traditional school in that respect.
Sorry to hear you have had such bad experiences with Aikido practitioners who don't understand the spirit of the art or the spirit of bushido in general.
It all depends on the focus of your school. If they are not teaching the bunkai as well as the kata / drills / free sparring then yeah, it might not be worth much in a real fight.
The class I take is primarily TKD but also mixed with JLFS, Aikido, and Army combatives.
My sensei actually killed a guy in Iraq with TKD, so I wouldn't totally discount it...
Depends on the laws where you live, but there are definitely laws out there making, "criminal threat", an arrest-able offense (eg. California PC 422, Kansas 21-3419, etc.). In some cases it can even be a felony (eg. California).
In addition, your employer could also be liable under OSHA regulations (in the US) and open themselves up to civil suits if they are notified of your threats and do nothing about it. Most companies have a zero tolerance policy on threats and violence just like they do on sexual harassment because they aren't willing to put the company at risk so that you can exercise your preference to behave badly / break the law.
If you and your employer want to take that risk, it's your right, but I don't think anyone here will be crying about it if you go to jail.
I would believe that if it weren't for the fact that there are at least 3 forks from former MySQL leaders trying to fix all the junk in it that is screwed up. For example, read:
The FUBAR thing about Hulu built into TVs and set top boxes is that they say there are titles that they have the right to stream on the web but don't have the right to stream to set top boxes, so you can't get all Hulu content on a set top box. Often the TV / box version is also Hulu Plus only (though I do subscribe to H+ currently to get it on my Roku).
It's one of reason's I'm looking to build a HTPC in the near future (well, that and getting tired of plugging the laptop into the big screen all the time for family viewing). Too much freakin lock in on the set top boxes...

The top 1% of incomes earn 20% of all income and pay 40% of all COLLECTED income taxes.
Yes, everyone learned in elementary school that 15% of 20 million is greater than 25% of 100000. So what? Oh you mean that you think it's fair if someone makes $20 million and pays a lower tax rate than most people, because they paid more actual dollars. The percent is the only measure of fairness. Don't insult our intelligence.
Right, but you have to know that other sorts exist / are available! I used to work with someone who was a programmer in the Army. She always used the sort that they taught her in Army programming school, bubble sort. The records her app was processing as a batch took all night to process. I spent 15 minutes teaching her the quick sort function that was built into the C library that came with the compiler and her reworked app was at least 4x faster.
the only way to copy/paste in the terminal is through the edit menu with a fucking mouse!

I try out different distros from time to time and the only thing that doesn't usually work out of the box is the wireless networking... Tried 2 different laptops recently, no wireless, but wired worked fine. I had installed Windows from scratch on one of them a few years ago and the WiFi came up without incident or further setup aside from providing the WPA key. Still, compared to 5 or 10 years ago, Linux installs have some a long way.
I don't think that's a big differentiator though. I don't think most people have even tried Linux in the first place. That is the bigger issue... Most people don't even know what it is or that it exists.
Try GrooveIP. Works for me on my tablet using it as a speaker phone. I haven't tried it on an Android phone because I don't have one. Comes in Lite (free) and $5 versions...
There are alternatives out there. Some are much like Skype:
G+ Hangouts / Google Video Chat ooVoo Jitsi
Some are more meeting oriented but can do video chat also:
AnyMeeting Buddy Meeting
At work we use a lot of Skype, but I think the video is crap. We did a meeting using GoToMeeting the other day and the video was much better than Skype but lots of echo (it was in a conference room using webcam mic and TV speaker, so not unexpected). I used ooVoo a couple of years ago and it was fine, but then it got blocked by the company firewall (going to try it again at my new company with less onerous firewall). I haven't tried Jitsi or G+ hangouts yet. My boss says G+ gives him some error about not working with USB audio on Mac... No problems on my Mac though with my USB audio dongle...

Doesn't sound like an Aikido guy. Aikido is not a percussive art. There are no punches or kicks in Aikido.
Also, Ueshiba was all about peace and harmony, not about being a douche like this guy.
Yeah, it's not like there is thousands of years of history of Asian martial arts being used in actual wars...

... because guns are about the only things I haven't seen running Android at this years CES.

Mod me troll if you must, but I find this article most interesting.
A number of people have said that.
For example,
Ben Stein
Paul Krugman many times

I don't believe these guys believe in anything except:
If you aren't rich you need to do whatever we say and STFU.
Freedom means the freedom for us to screw you over because we are rich and for you to be free to do nothing about it.
The "we're Christian" thing is just a ruse to convince poor people to vote against their self interest.

As the article says, H-1Bs are NOT cream of the crop. That's O visa. RTFA.

Then use Google's version.
That way you're just giving your Google password to Google.

I haven't tried Google's version but that is another option.
Yes. My landline, cell, and tablet all ring at the same time.
Am I the only one who doesn't have, "normal everyday fires" at their house? Sorry, that struck me as funny...
I wonder if anyone has thought of making a safe out of space shuttle tiles...
I watch 720p over WiFi on my Roku box all the time. Looks better than the over compressed 'HD' channels I get on the cable box...
Yes, but I have not tried it.
