not only was IE "just there" for windows users, but a lot of (unfortunatly typical) people i know dont even know what a browser is. all they know is that they click on the IE icon, which is cleverly name "the internet", to get online. not all of my friends are morons like this, but most people over 25 i know are.
hehe... thanks for the oregon trail, that brought back many memories. we used to play this, oddly enough, on apple ][ e's back in elementary school. i remember there were a couple computers (dont remember what they were, but apples) that were faster than the ][e's and we went to oregon in 7 minutes cuz the game speed was all relative to processor speed back in the day. hehe, that was good fun.
dear lord... its called a joke, a cliche at that. worthless, perhaps. would you even have a cluster of 8086's? no. if you did, would you be running a spreadsheet from 1985 on it now? no. therefore, os's dont even enter into it.
If you disable topic icons you would see that for yourself.
and ive clearly repented of not hovering or clicking on it to see what it was. i merely commented that i hadnt seen it very much. good lord, are you always this uptight? one more thing, i even happen to agree that my post was not worth modding up even one little point, but it was surely not offtopic
wow, im wondering whether i should even reply to someone with such a dark, scary nick...am i safe?
perhaps those moderators dont take it quite as seriously as some of the mod nazis around here. maybe they even agreed with me, because im not the only one to notice that that topic doesnt make it out much. maybe i dont want to disable the topic icons, maybe i like those pretty little things!!!my sincere appologies for not doing an exhaustive search on the matter before i so foolhardedly used my freedom of speech to ask a simple question. just think of all the grief i could have saved... mr quasi-evil piper, will you forgive me?
now, ive only been on/. for 6 mos or so, but i would imagine that that topic pic had to be made expecially for this story... how many times does theater come up on/.?
my kingdom for multiple mod points! troll troll troll troll troll. there, -5 pour vous and -1 offtopic for me from somebody that actually has the points
if you want fun and control on the street, go with the stick.
if you want cruising with ease, go with the auto.
this is of course, leaving out the whole idea that ultimately, a well built auto is faster and more reliable, that part really doesnt work with my analogy, its mroe the opposite, but you get the idea, hehe.
well put. people get all bent out of shape before they even read that the other person had specific reasons for doing it a certain way. i think what you said sums up all this crap people are going on and on about...
if you need it small, get it small, say, slackware. if you need a desktop OS with a little less fuss and a little more fluff, go with something like redhat.
i just switched at work from a g4 w/ osx to a dual monitor debian box. the g4 was my first mac and this is my first linux. honestly, i liked the osx for the most part, its just that i felt like it was holding my hand the whole time (kinda lika aol, but not in the stability dept, hehe). the command line was awesome. the ftp even had (new to me, anyhow) lpwd for local pwd. for the most part, it seemed that osx was simply a mac-bastardized linux flavor. i dunno, make up your own mind. i didnt hate it
