it was my understanding that the term "rip" applied to decoding. avid is not encoded and tho my knowledge of telecine is limited, i dont think they are either. rip doesnt apply to all digital sources. clever use of the word avid trying to impress me tho.
thats what i payed to see it the sunday after it was released. no waiting in lines, either. at a good theater, too. i dont know why this theater was so cheap, but i dont care. no mafia in oklahoma, that cant be it... oh well.
i dont have to be watching the screen while my movie downloads. ive been downloading movies lately while ive been packing to move. occasionally, i even play them while im packing.
of course i did pay to see the matrix in the theater...
but if the square peg is big enough, you can always mill it down to fit the round hole... hmm...

the VM is 8MB. i bet you download more than that in mp3s you dont listen to. not to say its the perfect choice, just do your research. also, if its web-based, wouldnt that be another reason to use java?
what if im in it for the money but i love computers and programming? ill never stop being a computer guy, but as soon as i can afford it (financially and experience-wise) im opening a hot rod shop. hopefully the two hobbies will cross somewhat... i hope to get into laptop controlled injection, etc.

of course the auto gc doesnt know all, but that doesnt mean it doesnt do some good. im just thinking that you could probably do it manually if necessary. also, it would seem that if you "program correctly" this wouldnt be a problem.
read the rest of my post, i specifically said "a" reason. not "the" reason.
"In fact, memory management may be more difficult with a garbage collector than without one."
this is a reason why they didnt use java? i mean, i understand how things like aol that hold your hand the whole way can piss you off, but i dont see how automatic gc makes it harder to manage memory...
are straight magazines embarassing to you? well, then perhaps you are the one that is gay. i would be much more embarassed to have something i didnt want than something i liked.
have you read any of the documents we base our government on? not to say theyre right, but bush is by far not the first to want that. our nation was founded by protestants. at least try to hide your stupidity
i have two eyes. they are next to each other. i do not have one eye.(see line one) because my eyes are side by side, they see more left to right than up and down. this means that a wider screen is superior. QED
you beat me to it... i was hoping i could point out that simple depth of field affects that too... i just wanted to look smart so people would like me!!!
you have got to be kidding me. you cant fit crap into a full screen shot. sure, its great for closeups of people, but for everything else it sucks. artistically, i much prefer the widescreen format, assuming a level playing field of watching both on their appropriatly dimensioned displays. it does irritate me that theres real estate on my tv that isnt used, but thats something i have to deal with because i prefer the format (even ignoring the idea that it was shot that way) and cant afford a ws tv.
i was at hastings (its like a blockbuster and barnes and noble all in one, for those of you without one) and i overheard an older couple discussing what widescreen was. the wife wrinkled her nose and said "ew, is that the one with the black at the top and bottom, i hate that." i worked in film for 2.5 years as a grip and had to step in. after explaining to them that they were missing ~20% of the movie watching full screen, they thanked me and picked up the widescreen version.
had this in Organization in Programming Languages class

not that i particularly enjoyed the review or thought it deserved posting on /., but he did say he liked linux better than xp
maybe im misinformed, but how exactly can it be a rip when it hasnt been encoded on a dvd yet? are you *gasp* without a clue?

id hoped to bury those horrid memories of recursion and pattern matching just to loop... *sob*

thats one of the best trolls ive heard around here for a while.
i cant argue with you at all because youre right and are far more informed than i, but youre a prick nonetheless.
i dont know about you, but i dont want any gay zines...
the majority of that was crap (absolutely no pun intended) but the wizard helping you crap brought me to tears
