Only problem is, Qmail isn't "FOSS". It doesn't fit in with either of the Free Software or Open Source definitions. You're allowed to look at the source code of Qmail but not touch. Distributing modified versions isn't allowed. I'm going to contact them and point this out -- they're free to use Qmail, but they shouldn't use it thinking it's open source.

Is it just me or is that decoder an order of magnitude smaller in terms of LoC than mp3/Vorbis decoders?

You're expecting somebody else to take their own time to convert something because you don't want to take 30 seconds to install QT? Not everyone has a platform that runs QuickTime, because it makes use of proprietary codecs. I don't see anything wrong in asking for a favour to convert it to a platform neutral format -- the Feiss video is worth seeing ;-)

  5. Subversive marketing on Why Software Piracy is Good for Microsoft · · Score: 1
It's very tempting when marketing software to turn piracy to your's advantage. Ensuring that no copy protection is in place and making an easily breakable demonstration version available on the company website is a prime example of how this is often done.

However, I have found that this approach often destroys what little camaraderie exists between the marketing team and the developers, who would really rather consider their software a valuable and costly business tool than one which falls into the hands of every teenage hack.

Particularly in large corporations, there are often internal factors which make the kind of 'subversive' marketing suggested in this document diffucult or imposible.
