  1. Slander on Slashdot!!! on Blizzard Made Me Change My Name · · Score: 1

As Sergeant Snuggles of the Horde on Lightening's Blade, I am offended at the slander in the above post. First, I am not an officer, though I do wield a big stick. Second, I have never arrested on CmdrTaco, nor would I given the chance. If I arrived at the opportunity, I would bow to Cmdrtaco (recognizing his name of course), then proceede to melt his face. I demand that the above post be edited to remove the outrageous claims or I will send my Yeti after him. Joking aside, I'm sorry to hear about your nic, Taco. I've been Aggie_Knight online for over a decade, and was very annoyed when I found out that I couldn't be on World of Warcraft.

  2. There is no way that XM is dropping this product l on XM Radio Pulls PC Hardware · · Score: 2, Insightful

Look yall, this has the stench of one big publicity grab. Dig it:

XM gets the publicity from the time trax thing. Obviously DiaRIAA is pissed and throws in its two cents. But Publicity good.

Because of Time Trax, the PCR starts selling like hotcakes...stock begins to run out, and the story starts to drop off the radar.

XM announces that they are discontinuing the PCR. Huge new, people get worried, MORE PUBLICITY!!!! DiaRIAA is happy and excited (though claiming nothing to do with this of course). Stocks of the PCR thing run completely out, demand skyrockets

2-6 months from now, XM releases new "safe from piracy" (but not really because such a thing doesn't exist) version of the PCR. MORE PUBLICITY!!!! Music lovers are happy because they can use their PCs. Geeks are happy because they can still hack it. DiaRIAA is happy because its "safe from piracy".

This is a win/win move by XM. They make a band of lawyers happy, look progressive, and get tons of publicity.

  3. Re:This is not new. on Tracking People Via Cell Phone · · Score: 1

You are wrong. All it takes is some math and your phone in contact with 3 towers, and you can be tracked down. 2 towers can track you into a given area (though not exact) and with one, well, they know sorta where you are. Plus, with phones constantly in touch with the towers, you don't haveta use the phone for it to track ya...that just makes it easier.

  4. Re:Just to help those who don't read the article.. on Tracking People Via Cell Phone · · Score: 1

This is basically the equivilent of the radar in Countstrike or Aliens, except unlike the CS radar, you will be able to see everyone. Add some signal emmision to the the radar that every 'soldier' carries and not only will he be able to see everyone around him, but also identify his buddies. If this tech becomes cheap enough that everyone gets it, this could revolutionize the way that urban warefare is played out. I'm not terribly concerned about the privacy issues, the government (UK and USA) does pretty much whatever it wants anyways, legal or not.

Obviously you are very brave to post something like this...considering you are anonymous. I won't bite on your obvious flame.
