    I know what you are trying to say, but for the very low bandwidth needs of these systems leased lines are plenty reasonable.

    Or maybe spend a couple bucks and keep it all on leased lines. That way you control all the endpoints. It is not like site to site leased lines are anything new.

    Considering HD netflix is beats both the DVD picture and has 5.1 sound I will disagree. Also the corner video store has under 10k disks.

    Using what you pay for is not abusing anything.

    Yeah, way back in the day. I meant totalfark, not ultra. It was many moons ago, and it had a pretty decent pay walled discussion section. Since they got more from the ads than the subscriptions they signed a deal with some advertiser that required the whole site have ads. That was the final straw for me. If slashdot ever kills off classic view I will probably have to leave.

    I would not know I am using the classic view on slashdot. I left fark when I had ultrafark and they added ads to even the paid portions of the site and made big changes. If netflix had a competitor I would be checking out their interface now.

    It's not the thinking that is the problem it is the record keeping.

    How do you check that the plane has had the required maintenance?
    How do you check that the pilot has not been flying too long today?

    Not like they have massive filing cabinets at all the airports for this stuff.

    The fact that you need them to pay taxes as they are the only form of currency the Treasury accepts. They will not take mangoes, nor bananas, nor lumps of shiny metals.

    This means they hold value for those who enjoy not having their property seized and living outside of prison.

    That seems easy to check, did the value of the USD vs other currencies fluctuate that much in the same period?
    How did the bitcoin do in the same period of time vs other currencies?

    It does not matter that they could at one time be turned in for gold. What matters is that I can buy things I want or need with currency. Try actually doing that with gold. Go to your local gold-seller, get a real gold coin and try to buy groceries with it, or a computer or anything else. When that fails go back to the gold-seller, sell the coin to him and see how much value you just lost so you could get your currency back. It would literally be cheaper to buy foreign currency and exchange it when you need to pay for goods or services.

    No you won't. Who will take them?
    Who will be testing to see if they are real?

    If the economy collapses that far foreign currency will be used long before gold or silver. Even then, expect prices to be very high as demand for good will be much higher than demand for stores of value.

    Cocaine lasts only a few days in the body, past use tests are fine for that. I can take a few days off work and driving for my birthday.

    Impairment test are easy, just test for impairment. No need to worry if it is due to lack of sleep, drugs, or old age. Anyone who can't meet the target should not be driving a car or operating other heavy machinery.

    Windows are not moving targets. The flight time of the round out of the paladin would be too long to hit a moving truck. Also the US border is too large for your ideas to be practical.
