    It is not that hard to change trains. I have taken far more on a train that I could in any car I own. Sure it was not just me, but 5 peoples luggage is a lot of stuff.

    One is gas the other is diesel. One of those fuels is a lot more energy per unit volume.

    I can take a train there, I can change trains if need be and a train can haul many tons. Most importantly, I can have a beer while doing all this.

    They are faster than air travel if you include the need to arrive early and the frequent cancellations of flights. Car travel sucks. you can't drink, you can't read, you can't do much of anything. Better yet would be to stop subsidizing roads so much and have better public transit in all forms. Let those who damage the roads pay for them, the shipping companies.

    It takes a few minutes on a linux netbook. I think any company can afford 15 minutes and a $250 netbook.

    "Unlimited". They claim 5GB but I have broken that before and not heard anything. Even then 100MB is nothing against a 5GB allowance. Slashdot was an American site last I checked; has this changed? My real answer is that most users in developing countries rely on computer cafes and those have better connections. If you can only afford dial up you can often not afford a computer of your own.

    Choice is the whole point. Learn the one you like, people can install the libs and run your KDE app on their gnome desktop or the other way around.

    I had a full time job and college, I used it.

    I know poor folks in the position you are talking about, some are there by bad decisions others by bad circumstances. The latter group suffer with the public transit, the former eat poorly.

    You can take the bus to a grocery store, I have done that when I was poor.

    I have been returning bottles for food money poor. You buy a bag of rice, a bag of dried beans. Veggies are cheap frozen, mixed bags are sub $1/pound, so get those as your budget allows. If you can scrap together another $1 you buy some taco seasoning mixes or hot sauce. This will feed you for a long time and be very healthy.

    Because that is a unique ID per Phone not per User. Pandora accounts are unique to users, not phones.

    When did cheap downloads become available?
    $0.99/song is the same as buying a CD, actually worse. The CD at least came with some stuff to put on the shelf.
