    Windows 8 runs on other platforms too. Go look at the linux tablet market share and compare that to windows 8 tablet share.

    I have used linux for that long on the desktop. Works fine.

    Marketing matters far more than you think. Bud is a very popular beer, and no one really thinks it is a good beer.

    Exercise for health does not require small time professional sports leagues, which is what these programs really are.

    LSU actually loses money on sports as a whole. Football makes money, but they seem content to lose it on the other sports.

    College football is a drag on Academics even more so if it makes money. No one thinks of the Academic standards of LSU, no one hears that name and thinks of famous teachers, scientists or other educated persons. They think of some communications majors that can throw or catch a ball really well.

    If you can't figure out that when someone mentions a city without a state it is most likely the most famous one you can't be helped.

    When I say Paris, do you think of the one in France or the one in Texas? When I say London do you think Ontario or England? It is normal to not include the state/province/nation when referencing the most famous city to bear a name.

    Are you totally ignorant of the software world?

    Linux is at this point more popular than windows, if we count embedded devices and servers. Windows has come a long way, but until very recently it had some serious problems. The issue stems from the design philosophy not any level of obscurity.

    I lived in PA for years. I have never until today known of this Oakland you are writing about. I bet basically no one who lives outside Pittsburgh knows it exists.

    The idea is that these folks are not simply consumers and would like to be grouped. The group maker includes guy who makes bicycles and guy who makes toasters, but neither of those includes the other.

    Either way security problems will exist and pretending that their app auditing is anything more than a justification for a walled garden is simply burying your head in the sand.

    Only the most recent one.
    There was a time you could jailbreak via pdf or just visiting a webpage. It is quite possible another such exploit will be found in the future.

    You could also distribute the app via your own website.

    Quite different from other mobile stores. Since there is more than one option. You are even free to become your own publisher with no middleman.

    Well it is an impossible task, so no surprise there.

    I can easily make an app that has a good mode and an evil mode, it decides which by downloading some images from my website. Since the app is used for some image related task you would never notice.

    Unless Apple has solved the halting problem and they failed to tell us.

    You can't attack other apps?
    So how does jailbreaking work?

    If you can jailbreak, you can use that to attack other apps or do any of those other wonderful things.

    Sure you would need to use a jailbreak after being installed, but chaining together attacks is a well known thing to do.

    Not from any apps sold via the Amazon Appstore for Android.

    The entire point of Apple's closed system is that they are the only publisher of software for the platform. This means they get a cut of sales no matter what.

    Why would it need to modify its own code?
    Why not just have an interpreter in there to begin with? Or just have a simple date check. Don't be evil for X days.

    Since they only have the compiled program they have no idea what it will do in the future.

    Most football programs lose money. The schools you are talking about are extreme outliers.

    Even in schools where the football programs make money the athletics programs normally lose money.

    What year was this?

    They have debt because tuition costs more than the jobs they can get pay. If you are paying $25k a year in tuition and are making 17k a year you will end up with debt.
