To me, the ribbon is a bad interface; menus are much clearer. However, the right-click format menu makes life a lot easier. I find myself more productive b/c of that, not the ribbon.
Also, if these companies want support, can't they go with StarOffice?
This is not a good day for content freedom. If true, this is a good day for the entertainment industry to try and lock-down media even more, or simply make it unavailable in a way consumers want. Piracy goes up, and they attempt to figure-out what's wrong while honest consumers suffer.
DisplayPort seems better. You have regular DP and mini-DP. Why is Ethernet going over a video connection anyway? People with money to buy an awesome TV and awesome sound system won't take advantage of the combined audio / video anyway. No matter what, the industry needs to focus on one tech: DVI, DisplyPort, HDMI.
Good call. Why were kids that were "unacceptably below average" getting D's? They should've been failing.
If they're close, it may be easier to just pass the kid, rather than have to deal with the parents and paperwork of a failing kid. Maybe; I have no idea how it really is...
Well, if you completely stripped IE from Windows, things that depend on an HTML renderer would break, such as help (.chm), HTML apps (.hta), and.Net (web browser control), to name a few.
Side note: Mac OS X uses Webkit to render help and a number of other OS parts / pieces.
But, these are all the reasons that these devices did terribly...
I used WinCE / PocketPC / WinMo / whatever they're calling it this week to separate it from the previous generation for years, from 2001 until 2007 because I had to. It was terrible! (especially their idea of "muti-tasking") The proof is in the numbers; Apple probably sold more iPhones in the time it took me to reply to this post than all Jupiter devices put together...
Yes, Hirohito. As I understand it, Tojo was against the war. As a side note, I've also heard that Cornwallis fought against the British treatment of America before the Revolution.
Ok, then maybe like the "Some app wants to access your location; is that ok?" dialog, they could have a comprehensive dialog that tells you, "This app wants to access your location, contacts, and web history; is that ok?"
At the same time, that moves a lot closer to Vista / Win7 UAC.
You have to install the malicious app for it to do anything anyway. The "Send My Data to Hackers" app would not pass approval. Case closed; no big deal.
I took a tour of our local hospital's IT facilities. The main thing they've saved money on is not having to reorder blood tests; computers mean less errors reading doctor's handwriting. That, alone, helps save lives by having fast, accurate results. There are several other efficiencies, such as storage and backup of patient data, CT and MRI modeling, etc. Those may not save money (maybe they do), but they make saving lives drastically more efficient.
They shouldn't make sweeping generalizations that no one is saving money or becoming more efficient.
There are no viruses for OS X, none. Maybe, in the future, there will be, but there are none now. The only reason there are any 'viruses' for the iPhone is b/c jail-broken ones all have the same ssh password. Change it, and the 'virus' can't hurt you.
The best way to get viruses on a Mac is to install Windows on it.
This article is just blind; there's zero vision. Apple is just making apps easier to get without locking down the system.
Java and JavaScript both have so many curly-brackets, they must be the same language.

A gaming device comes with a stylus? For real? Glad I bought an iPhone...
Well, I still won't pirate; I'll just quit watching.

Thank you! I had no idea what GM meant.

Yay common sense! Thank you Anonymous Coward...

Windows Phone 7: Because 1-6 were just practice.

You can put non-DRM books on iPad - http://gizmodo.com/5491935/reminder-the-ipad-will-read-drm+free-ebooks-from-your-nook-or-sony-reader
Now we need to find-out why more crime, etc happens during a full moon.
Run. :-)
ipad > NetBook
Why
1. netbook is a actual pc Ie it runs windows
The iPhone didn't do much (or anything) that WinMo, etc didn't; it just did it well.
To fix WinMo / Pocket PC / WinCE, MS needs to:
1. Get rid of the stylus.
2. I have no idea...
I like how he says, "internet use cannot yet cause death or dismemberment."
USB missile launchers exist; what's next?

Later he found-out he only needed to record a 12-hour video. :-)

I haven't paid full price since 2003.
