I loved getting a new version of borland C. You would receive a box with 23 3.5" floppy disks and have to sit there for a few hours while the installation software said, "Please insert disk #" Of course this was on my massive 15 inch monitor. I was totally amazed when I received a version with a CD-ROM. Not that my PC had a CD-ROM, but a little Novel Networks magic and you could remote mount a drive. Heady days indeed.
If they put a phone number and bill number at the bottom of the check, each patron could call the number, enter the bill number, and pay his portion of the check by amount and credit card # (CC# possibly encoded in the phones memory, passwd for security, etc..). I'm sure application software can make it work on even the smallest cell phone lcd.
Oh dam! Public disclosure. Now I lost my patent!
Worked at (the old) Bell Labs for many years. Only hired the best people from the best technical schools.
Started my own company, hired people (CS and EE) from highly rated Engineer schools, and a few CS people from liberal arts colleges.
I will never again hire someone that does not have a degree from a real engineering school.
Good arguement but the world is not so black and white. I'm sure U.S. offshore drilling of Venezuela will commence in a few years, of couse in "international" waters. Laws (including patent law) will be ignored if they are not in a nations best interest. Welcome to the real world.
Don't worry Merck will be fine. They're not going to take their ball and go home. They'll make it up by charging more somewhere else.
Viewsonic has (had?) a video, keyboard and mouse wireless extender tablet. It uses 802.11 to transmit the user io to the pc. However, it only runs under XP. It would be perfect for my wife's medical practice if it ran under win2k. Does anyone know of a hack site that might provide that driver? How about a driver for Linux?

Will the UK stop giving Obama and Pelosi ideas!!! I'm part of the 40% that do pay taxes in the US.
Second innovation. Possible subclaim or an entirely new patent! Have it charged to the phone bill. Dam! Now I lost two patents.

I can't believe there isn't one "Heckle and Jeckle" post!

I'm glad someone finally has the guts to speak out! How can all the tech media not have pointed this out in the last few years?
