There are actually dedicated software projects (opensource, even) that facilitate distributed opengl apps.. They even got quake 3 to run! Just have a quick google..
Privately held names ^_^
I am pretty sure due to this + other reasons that I have a 100% globally unique name.. In fact i'd go as far as to say I have a globally unique middle+surname combo..
Would anyone want to make quicktime videos on linux when there are much better OPEN codecs and containers (xvid/vorbis for video and audio, and ogg or even avi for the container)?
I mean, the quicktime container and it's codecs (sorenson etc) are some of the most proprietary, least-supported media formats in existance! (except maybe realmedia).
There are no good, simple "user" players for quicktime on linux ("user" meaning the user doesn't have to compile a bleeding-edge mplayer or xine and somehow make his/her probably illegally-obtained win32 codec dlls work with it), and the quicktime player on windows is horrendously ugly, slow and feature-crippled compared to all the free/open media players (and even WMP).
AMEN! I consider myself both a geek and a Terminator fan (I own the special editions of both movies and various comics/games), but this trailer just REEKS of Sequel-itis and crappy B-movie linies/acting/script... I SERIOUSLY doubt I'll watch this movie more than once.
True, I think SETI is betting on any ETIs both being more advanced science-wise and dedicating a larger budget for broadcasting infrastructure.. I don't see earth building any space-based radio broadcasters to compensate for the barysomething effect of the earth...
They should charge somewhere in the neighborhood of colos/real bandwidth resellers... I can get a 1mbit pipe for what.. 300$/month?
The current per-gb prices for metered isps are way higher than the actual price.
I say; if the lusers don't want to subsidize my bandwidth usage, then I shouldn't subsidize their tech-support and bullshit advertising etc.
Didn't you see that one episode of scrapheap challenge where they had an american team over? What a bunch of ego-inflated gits.. (they even had k-rad matrix style nicknames)

probably to do with some http server (versions) rounding the content-length field the wrong way on resumes..

mplayer does this on *nix/bsd (and more, it plays all windows media and quicktime files as well!)
I'm quite sure the data has some kind of checksumming and integrity verification.. It's NASA, not microsoft :)

Compactflash? You can buy an ide adaptor for 20-30 bucks and use a regular cf card as an ide harddrive.
