  1. Why Windows only? on Google Unveils The Google Pack · · Score: 0

Why only Windows XP ? Why, oh Why. I know most of the apps are not needed for Macs like anti-virus and ad-ware but there should be a google pack for mac too.

  2. Do what your interested in. on Tulane University to Reduce Engineering School · · Score: 0

You don't have to switch majors just because your engineering college is reducing. Do what you are interested in and you will definitely do better in it. Even though everyone says that there are no jobs in computers but this industry is slowly but steadily picking up. Google for example hires 50 people every week (although most of them are PHDs). Do what you like and your interested in.

From what I understand this is not ICANN approved so they won't be doing this at the top level dns servers (verisign got hold of them for their advertisements). So UnifiedRoots will be targeting the clients. I might be wrong.

  4. Additional Installation on Dotless Top Level Domains? · · Score: 0

This would require the installation of software that would work on top of the browser like New.net. And people are even more concerned about installing apps from popups so it's going to hard for them to penetrate through to get a good base of clients. Based on the fact where New.net is right now we can predict where this will be heading to. Anyways I'll switch to a Mac so they don't bug with the popup's forcing me to install their software.

Nope. Even if they did but there is still the risk of misdiagnosis. During LASIK surgery if they incorrectly diagnose your eye, the laser will burn of extra corneal tissue. Hence you should not wear contacts a week prior to your LASIK consultation. Now if they come up with a way to automatically scan and make appropriate alterations, that would be great.

  8. They don't right now but will later on When Hybrids Do (And Don't) Make Sense · · Score: 0

Hybrids will definitely be much more popular as they become cheaper and little bigger to accomodate the bigger famillies. With the current hybrids now the savings on gas is appromimately equal to the preium paid on hybrid cars. So not much value savings is seen by consumers but as they get cheaper and bigger they will surely be a hot commodity and I'll be the first in line to get one.

  9. Not a very good idea! on Revamping the Movie Distribution Chain · · Score: 1, Interesting

Having a home theater at home, the only reason I go to theaters is just so I can brag about seeing it before everyone else (who usually wait for the DVD). So if they release it on DVD and theaters simuntaneously I's rather just rent the movie in my 19.99/month unlimited dvd plan instead of paying $8.00/seat in a theater. Just my 2 cents.

Hmm.. that doesn't make sense does it?

This is an easy setup through asterisk for no-monthly cost.
All you do is setup asterisk to recieve SIP URI calls and have a SIP dns entry added pointing to your asterisk server. Then you just forward all your incoming SIP calls to your cell phone or home phone or a SIP phone in Canada or Europe or all of them.

I am sure the slashdot community can get away with the $10 monthly fee by spending an hour or two on an asterisk setup with much much greater functionality.

I am no rocket scientist so bear with me
The debris falling off would be problem if they were falling off from the under side the shuttle (the insulation from underneath the shuttle) or hitting the insulation and ripping it off.

On the way back this is the side exposed to tremendous friction and temperatures reach 1000+. So even a slight amount of insulation missing could cause the high temperatures to reach inside the shuttle which could be a great problem.
So I hope they check the debris properly and take appropriate actions.
